My willy engine needs a new clutch too. I don't think i'll go for standard, i'm sick of wearing them out

Are there any decent clutches that can take a bit of stick that aren't stiff as fook on the pedal?

Mate its not too bad, 9 hours is about right, drop subframe, box off and clutch out, easy as pie

Recon i could prolly do it in less than 9 hours

Its also just finding time to do this aswell, i travel to uni in the week so need my car everyday, and drive to work on the weekend... but the more i use the car the worse the clutch gets!

hhmmmm... is it worth skiving a weekend off work to play about in the garage with my car

And what clutch should i go for, theres so many too choose lol!

Ive rang around a few "local" garages this morning... they havent got there head screwed on right!

First garage £570, taking the engine out kinda job he said WTF!
Second garage £440, 8hrs to do the job!
Third garage £350, and will do it in 6 - 7hrs apparantly?

I think i am gonna get a weekend off work and tackle it in my garage, with the father!

On an RSI you only need to shift the engine over as far as possible, supporting it underneath also removing airbox and pipe.

Not an engine out job.

Get the clutch from reno and it also comes with the allign tool, staandard is fine for 80000 odd miles.

Mr Clutch charged me £380 for mine when it exploded. Would have been £350 but it took out the knock sensor..

I need it doing quickly, as I was set to go to Cornwall 4 days later.. they did it in 3, so was OK!

wouldn't waste the money on a uprated clutch pal, unless you've got/planning a turbo for it, the rsi wont produce enough power to justify getting one

and if your running a proper turbo the clutch is about 450 quid

My Valver is fitted with the Group N Spec Uprated Clutch from K-Tec. It's fantastic. The car has also had the soft pedal conversion done which helps loads, but the clutch is solid. Pulls easily in every gear and doesn't feel stiff at all. (although the conversion might of helped with this).

Regardless, I've had no problems, so that would be my recommendation to you. :)

One of the best clutches is Sachs Performance, not the standar one but the organic one...

Rang around a few places yesterday... and everbody says "ooo one of them RSi's is it, thats a bitch of a job"

Quotes ranged from £275 - £799

ok the £799 was from renault them selves went down to collect a part so i thought i would how much they charge ask just for the laugh! hahahaa..

I was only looking at the R5GTT uprated clutch becuase its acutally cheaper than a standard RSi clutch?
