Right, if I have been on the motorway for a while, the box used to spit out of 5th. Wasn't really an issue with me.............. until tonight :?

I've just been for a quick drive, and heard a strange noise, like a mechanical grinding in 3rd and 4th. Sounds like something is dragging along the floor.

Now, it's still getting all gears correctly, and still pulling in them all, but I am getting worried that my box is going.

Could it be the box? Or something else?

I think you have a leak and are seriously low on gear oil.

Once I deliver you some gear oil and start feeling sick at the back of your car cos the smell makes me heave I think all will be well in Pikie land again!!

Just call me mystic meg.

LOL

Hey, guess what, after that late night on the street fix with the gearoil lastnight

Nothing has changed

New box time. Or can the Diff just be replaced?

Is it engine out job to replace the box?

no mate not an engine out job. but if the cambelts due or u want to do any other bits.water pump etc then it mite be better off to get these done at same time, in which case it will prob be easier with eng out.

It's just had the belts and water pump done when I swapped the engine over at xmas, so don't really want to take the engine out again if I don't need too

My car was jumping out of 5th too - turned out the previous owners never checked if there was any oil in the gear box!!.

Check it asap - it'll only get worse and more expensive.

Check ur box oil - see the colour too - silvery colour means metallic parts within.
