first off. if the head gasket is gone to account for the mayo a compression test may be off no use as it does not mean its gone on the cylinders just between an oil and water way. the other problems seam minor really. any secondhand motor will have a few faults. plus cambelt and a full service are just items that you would need to do eventually anyway.

yeh i thought that about the compression test not being much use as this only tests the gasket around the cylinders?

what about the noisy pas pump?

there all noisy but depends how noisy.loads tend to be noisy on full lock. the pulling is the only concern really. could be tyres pressures etc tracking nothing to worry about . or bent arm suspension not major. or shell. but just look carefully at the seam sealer around the strut tops, panel gaps, paint match, door shuts etc. if there ok should be fine. also measure the wheel centre to arch gaps to door shut and wheel centre to wheel centre to make sure its all straight

a few ppl said to me that if it has been used very little (like it has been) then this could be condensation formed on small journeys causing this. also it was a very very littel amount!

mayo....could be due to the car not being driven on long journey's...49,000miles is not alot and I wouldnt be expecting the owner to be driving very far, especially if they drive it everyday and only do 3miles or so. Remove dip stick and check that. Drive it for about 15+miles until oil temp reach's 100*C then check it again 8)

^^^ will do, i mean a gasket should last more then 49k miles anyway shouldnt it?

yes but its not just mileage but age and any number of other things that cause gasket failure. poor maintenance lack of anti freeze etc. but a little mayo should not be to much cause for concern unless the header tank and sump are contaminated also
