MAXIBOY
18-01-2007, 15:35

Yep, I'm currently helping build a new engine for this one. (220BHP 2L TB's lump  )

Although on a mild techniquality (sp??) this isn't a dimma, the old shell was a factory dimma, but after a slide mega drift vs tree and bridge it was new shell time :P

This is a full GRP A rally shell, then dimma'd. The front wings sit higher than the bonnet at the shut line if it's a Dimma.

ben306
19-01-2007, 20:08
yeah, bonos. basically an s16 running standalone management, bike carbs btcc head, then lot, sure its good for about 250bhp, altho hes aiming to get it up to the original s16 maxi spec of 308 bhp.

straight cut box, all the extras.

it is actually a ex works shell aswell

20-01-2007, 10:23
lol

another question then

are the gti-6 s any good

because it looks lke i might get one of them or a golf mk4 1.8 gti or the 2.0 gti?
any help would be good
cheers

dont bother with the golf. They are well underpowered.

Lee Keefy
20-01-2007, 14:15
leave the 2.0 golf well alone,a chipped 1.8t will put a smile on your face,

i had a do with one on a627m and we both were pullin silly speeds.

i have a 2.8 4-mo as a daily drive and he did alright once up and running!

fo-mo all the way 8)

jules-B
20-01-2007, 19:22
am i just being silly but what is a 4 mo??

so a chipped 1.8 gti turbo golf..is better than a gti-6??

DaveH
20-01-2007, 19:39
He means Golf v6 4-motion (vw name for four wheel drive) and is haldex contolled but i doubt you want to know about that lol

As lee says steer clear of 2.0 gti, has even less power than the 1.8 20v (non turbo) which only has 125 bhp! 1.8t would be very quick if chipped but i dont think itd handle quite as well as a gti 6 but is a better built car and if serviced properly can be very reliable. It depends what you want really but i dont think either is better than the other, just good in different ways!

Lee Keefy
20-01-2007, 19:50
^^absolutely :)

jules-B
20-01-2007, 22:03
im after somthing that i can modify a bit thats still going to have a good poke when you put your foot down...insurance would be murder on a williams..and fancy somthing different from a clio anyway

seen quite a few nice eurod golfs...so was kind of thinking that route

i dont know much about the golfs mk4 but i guess they do a 1.8 non turbo and a 1.8 turbo..the non turbo would be better?? with a chip?

and then i look at the gti-6 and see all the mods i can do..
i just cant decide!

Not sure where you got that info, but the spec is

GRP A shell, with dimma retro fitted,
Bilstein GRP A coilovers (tarmac)
s16 engine, mildly flowed head and Lotus turbo bodies on MS making 180ish at a stab, cause it's f**ked hence new engine being built.
Gearbox is std, with a 40% plate diff
Std s16 rear beam

Rest is just seats harness's etc...

It looks stupidly high, but it's just the arches, it's lowered around 100mm which has caused no end of sus issues we're trying to sort out, it's getting bare shell rebuilt in about a month's time once my 205 is finished, so hopefully this summer it will be out attacking innocent pedestrians

The one Lee is referring to that he had a do against on the A627 was a 1.8 turbo model, that was chipped and the owner said he'd just had it on the rollers at 217bhp. There wasnt much in it tbh, but the 4wd of our golf got the jump on him from the start. It was wet and he stuck with us round most corners.

Get a tdi with a remap. A bloke in wakefield had a gt tdi running about 170bhp and from 30 - 110mph it kept up with my mates mildy modded R32.

if you like to REV a car dont go for ANY diesel car, they're arent many turbo cars that you'll enjoy either if thats your game.

buy a 306 rallye for thrills, buy a 1.8t golf for easy of power gains or splash out on a 4-motion for both 8)

170 + bhp,

6speedbox,

his has been lowered, and is immaculate..

very quick , certainly hybrid/williams pace, would surpass beyond 100mphi would go with the rallye.

I could pull from it lower down in the rev range, but at faster speeds the pug reeled me in .

iwant one with the wide arch kit ..class!!!

You dont want a red one, white is the only colour a rallye should be! That looks very nice ben, ive seen those pics before cant remember where though, possibly bttos?

One of the only cars i would deviate from clios to own, handling is supposed to be top class!

thats not a proper maxi!!

thats a dimma rep, hence why its a phase 2 and on tvr hubs/rims/brakes.

Proper maxis are only phase 1's and based around the s16 engine, full metal arches, the lot.

That car use to be a lads from stockport, had marlboro stickers and that on it, what him that had the kit put on, it isnt one of 5 like stated.
