how do i get the differential out? do i just have to remove the bell housing? is it hard and any special tools i would need?
gear box is a JB3 053
ta :)
why you want it out. it can be a real pain removing the fifth gear and some bearings

just want the diff out for modifcation.
if you want all the diff out, not just the cup then its a total stripdown,
iirc its the 5th gear cover off first, then get the actual 5th gear off and selector arms
there is small ball bearings and springs knocking about so try not to lose them lol
once all that is clear you can undo the casing bolts and start to lift it off, it wont pull straight off as the external selector arm(the bit your gear lever/rod bolts too) needs playing about with to wiggle it off, as you start to lift it of you need 2x m10 type bolts to slide in where the 2 selector rods are, as if you dont the ball bearings will fly out!
once you manage to get the casing off you then have to try removing both the primary and secondary shafts off without fcuking all the selectors/gears etc up, once there out you should be able to get the diff out, been a few year since i last stripped one tbh! most likely missed bits off!

Sounds like mission impossible!
stripping is easy compared to putting it back together
