Right, a friend of mine has a 1.2 clio. He has bought another 1.2 clio with a 1.8 16v fitted to it, we need to extract the 16v from the donor clio and put in HIS clio. one problem, the wiring is a mess and the ignition does not come on, how can we wire it up right? would a haynes manual help us? can we get wiring diagrams? what would cause the ignition not to come on? and it has got a battery!! lol any help would be much appreciated!! thanks
haynes manual will have wiring diagrams that should help. as with other car could be anything though likely to be immobiliser or alarm i would think. are they the same year of 1.2 clio

no the car with the problems is the M plater, the car the 16v is going in is on a P plate when they did that little facelift.
might find the looms do not match anyway then. best to get a manual and try to match the looms for yourself. that way you know there right.

match them?
there are a couple of differences between phases/models.

i see, well we will give it a go at the weekend and see whats going on with this loom and take out the TOAD alarm incase that is messing it up.

surely a phase 2 16v wiring loom will fit the 16v engine and connect to the car loom? A friend of mine has a pretty crazy 1.2 clio running a heavy modified RSi engine with a 2.0litre bottom end. I'm pretty sure he ran an RSi loom for that engine and it linked up perfectly to the main connectors in the relay box
think theres some difference in the fuel pump relay wires
