Hi guys,

My valver is annoyingly starting to develop flat spots in the rev range.

Its a similar felling to hitting the rev limiter, obviously not as strong, thats the best way I can describe it.

It will power through it but you can just feel the reluctance of the engine to pull.

Its most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear when you get 3 1/4 of the way up towards the limiter.

Its got full service history, had one owner before me and has been very well looked after. Its just gone over 82k.

I had it serviced a month ago, spark plugs were replaced, they were shot and I hoped that this would cure the problem. It didnt really, so a mate of mine said change the fuel filter cause valver filters clog up pretty bad. Did that and it still hasnt really made much difference.

I dont know where to go from here, any suggestions?

I don't rag it from cold, i let it warm up EVERY morning before I set off.

It doesnt use any water, isnt burning any oil, so I cant put my finger on it.

The only obvious thing I can think of is new HT leads but surely something this simple won't cure the problem?

Any ideas guys?

Leigh

Im not sure actually, its a bit more than 40mm, I had it done when I bought it, apart from an induction kit thats the only mod, but I tell you what, it holds well! I need to post some new pics, Ive had some new rims put on about 2months ago, some renault 19 phase1 16v rims, black polished lip with proxes 195/45/15. The ride is ridiculously hard but fuc* me, the handling is UNBELIEVABLE! Undoubtably better than with the phase II's on!

But seriously any suggestions on my problem please post!

Try putting a standard airbox back on?

So we think it could possibly be the piper x induction kit?

once the engine gets warm the piper will sap your power, not so bad in winter but summer you will notice it
