Fully mappable ecu, ideal for throttle body conversion, or to go to cable throttle, same kind of system as OMEX etc. Not needed, Ive already got a ecu.

Developed from the original ALPHA system, ALPHA PLUS features all new Electronic Control Units and offers closed loop Lambda fuel control for the precise monitoring and self adjustment of the exhaust gas mixture that is required by catalytic converters for efficient performance and maximum life expectancy.

Built directly within the ALPHA PLUS E.C.U. are powerful ignition amplifiers eliminating the need for separate ignition amplifier modules.

Completing the E.C.U.s hardware features is wastegate control channel that manages a closed loop manifold pressure control strategy. This channel can be reconfigured to provide an additional ignition amplifier.

Also available is a comprehensive calibration development software package allowing approved Alpha Dealers to create their own engine calibrations via a hand held calibration console, a communication interface and a Personal computer.


The enhanced ALPHA PLUS E.C.U. has these hardware features:

Closed loop lambda fuel control.
Two integral ignition amplifiers which are capable of driving inductive or capacitive ignition systems of the following types:- All distributor or Distributorless (wasted spark static).
A wastegate control channel with the option to reconfigure it as an ignition amplifier.
Four injector control channels driving up to twelve high impedance injectors or four low impedance types.
A built-in engine speed signal interface for use with these original equipment signal frames: Ford/EEC-IV, 36-1, Bosch 60-2, Renix 44-(2x2), MEMS.
Ignition retard for unleaded fuel of 2, 4 and 6 degrees via grounding harness leads.
Fuel pump power control via harness relay and inertia safety switch.
Rev counter output drive.
Cold start extra air valve control.
Engine load compensation (air conditioning etc)
Gearshift indicator lamp drive.
Purge canister valve control.
Air Pump Clutch control.
The ALPHA PLUS E.C.U. signal inputs:

Throttle position Engine speed. Cam phase (sequential systems etc.). Lambda sensor (Zirconia type). Air temperature. Air pressure (barometric or inlet pressure) Coolant temperature. P.C. and calibration console communications.

Alpha Dealer programmable features:

16 RPM by 16 throttle angle breakpoint calibration map with at each co ordinate values for ignition advance and fuel injection time. Each pair is calibrated simultaneously in real time.
A comprehensive Closed loop lambda fueling control strategy, recommended for applications where catalytic converters are installed.
A closed loop wastegate control strategy.
Inlet air temperature and inlet air pressure correction tables for both fuel injection time and spark advance values, these corrections are required for changes in altitude, barometric pressure and for forced induction systems i.e. turbo and supercharging.
Ignition dwell time control.
Cranking fuel enrichment table (16x16) combined with the cold start routine adding extra air and fuel for first time starting and warm up cycle.
Transient (acceleration) enrichment tables allows fine tuning of throttle response. A comprehensive 4 parameter strategy responding to throttle movement and engine temperature.
R.P.M. Iimiter values and selection of limiter types, that are either fuel or ignition controlled with soft or hard cut.
A self learning idle fuel trimmer ( idle mixture) strategy.
Gearshift lamp R.P.M. trigger value.
Injector type selection configures appropriate battery voltage correction curve.
Inlet air pressure sensor selection configures the correct range of pressure to sensor type.

The ALPHA PLUS E.C.U. set control features:

Fuel pump relay control, switches off the fuel pump in the event of the engine stalling (safety device).
Linear interpolation between all calibration values (fueling and ignition) and all correction tables.
Alpha Dealer Calibration development equipment

The two main devices of the ALPHA PLUS calibration development equipment are the communications interface and the calibration console.

The communications interface enables the P.C. to receive the engine data from the E.C.U. and in real time display this on the P.C. screen.

The calibration console allows the Alpha Dealer to make real time adjustments to the calibration values, these are the fuel injection time, the ignition advance time, and the duty cycles for both the wastegate control valve and the cold start air valve.

The enhanced electronic control unit - part number PI043 has the extra facility of being able to utilise the engine speed/position signals from various original equipment engine management systems, i.e Bosch 60-2, Ford EECIV 36-2, Renault Renix 44-2-2, Rover MEMS 36-1-1.

The electronics are housed in a die cast aluminium alloy casting complete with cast in mountings weighing 1kg. The overall dimensions (including the mountings), 220 x 185 x 48 mm.
