Ok right i have been reading the various posts over time on these brakes...
so i have the following questions

if you have a set of wilwood calipers, do they use standard discs and pads or do you have to get bigger uprated jobs.

Mounting brackets they dont fit on standard so where do you get them from(have seen yozzasport named a few times) or has anyone got any specs for making them :D

Hoses, due to the longer length needed im guessing i would need longer hoses then the standard good rich jobs i have, anyone have specs and length ect or where to get premade ones thanks :D

Daz.
07-01-2007, 19:59
^^ I'd like to know all that too

richy
07-01-2007, 20:27
my wilwoods fit std size discs, and yes you need a mounting bracket made up, i got mine as a kit nearly 2 year ago from mark ritchspeed

yes the hoses also need to be 2inch longer and obviously have the correct fitting for the calipers themselfs

northy had a set made up to fit williams hubs but runs 285mm discs, dont think he has ever fitted them tbh!

yoz can sort you out with brackets but you would have to talk to him and fred about that

Bayliss
08-01-2007, 00:14
if someone would like brackets i don't mind removing one and taking it somewhere to be priced up as the hybrid isn't my main car so it can be off the road for a while

Allan
08-01-2007, 02:26
if you would that would be great :D

right the fitting on these is aparently

Fitting Attachment 1: Female threads
Thread Size: 1/8 in. NPT

anyone know what the length is and clio side fitting, then its just a case of having some made or find exsisting ones

snowman
08-01-2007, 10:45
Same as what Richy said really,im in the process of trying to have some brackets made up for another member, just getting the time on the cnc to do them really, got mine from Yozzasports but tbh i wouldnt reccomend them, had nothing but trouble and a lot of waiting around for parts with them

VIPERONE
09-01-2007, 20:44
bayliss can you post up the hose dimensions, and if possible get a quote for the brackets..... i can then order the calipers

richy
09-01-2007, 20:46
the hoses are 2inch longer, std fitment for the side which fits to the car itself, caliper side is 1/8in NPT as said iirc

VIPERONE
09-01-2007, 20:49
1.38/35.1mm bore, 1.00 / 25.4 discs width is the dimensions/settings for the calipers themselves

richy

richy
09-01-2007, 20:56

Riley
09-01-2007, 21:03
are these 4 pots? so they run the standard shape/size pad, and £50 a caliper if they are 4 pots where the hell can i get some? :D

richy
09-01-2007, 21:07
yes they are 4pot calipers, they dont run std pads, you need the correct pads for the calipers, also brackets to fit them and new hoses made to fit

Riley
09-01-2007, 21:09
okay thats fair enough, but are they really £50 a caliper???

how much are they kit form?

Daz.
09-01-2007, 21:15
cheap as fook that - might be having a look into those when these die

Riley
09-01-2007, 21:17
also, can you only get pads for them from wilwood???

VIPERONE
09-01-2007, 21:19
i can get the pads aswell, again for an ultra cheap price iirc it was £150 for 2 x calipers and poly e pads...u just need to sort hoses and brackets..

Riley
09-01-2007, 21:23
ow so there ordered threw you are they? do you mind me asking where you get them from, or are you a supplier. Also how much are the pads alone, and do they only do one compound?

VIPERONE

Riley
09-01-2007, 21:31
okay mate, well im sure others will want to know so you may aswell post it up here, will find it easy enough. Will be looking to uprate brakes about summer time, was going to just rebuild standard calipers but wilwoods 4post for £50 a piece :O be rude not to.

AmDaMan

i have R21 Turbo calipers on the front of mine with the made up brackets, the wilwoods at £50 each sound interesting, what are the dimensions of the bracket as I use a 285mm x 21mm disc

Allan
10-01-2007, 16:34
i have all the details but i shall let gunner tell you since i got them from him :D

price was roughly about 50 quid per caliper and
£30 for the pads but then you needed to add shipping and maybe import tax....

Then you needed the brackets, haven't got a price on those and then you needed the hoses too which iirc were about £20-30, custom made jobs....

McPikie
10-01-2007, 16:52
Are they the wilwoods without the dust seals though??

Allan
10-01-2007, 19:12
they are 120-6805's which are the 4 pot dynalite jobs you can get diff pads but the polly e's look like they have the best temp range for normal road use.

matty
10-01-2007, 19:26
I will be after the midilites rather than the dynalites as they have seals in.

If anyone is able to sort these out at a good price I would appreciate it and will need brackets too.

richy
10-01-2007, 19:32
dont take this the wrong way, i can understand ppl asking about if there dust sealed, but i have run my set of 2 years, bayliss has a set 3 years old, gaz's nana is about 4year old or more and all ours work fine, and still do!

Allan
10-01-2007, 19:40
matty get the part number and finding them shouldnt be too much of a problem, also the unsprung weight on the dynalites is supposed to be much lighter hence making the handeling better

matty
10-01-2007, 20:57
Brackets will be the hardest to get done so if people are going for dynalites and getting brackets I will be up for some.

matty

Midilites are newer calipers, lug mounted so need different brackets, more expensive and with the dust seals.

Got that wrong. Midilites are radial mounting (whatever that is) and Dynalites are lug mounted.

Z-120-7543 seems to be the correct model of Midilite if 120-6805 is the correct Dynalite.

yeah 120-6805 is lug mount, it just means they mount like the std carriers do but using custom brackets, the others mount with the bolts 90degree over, ie the bolts point at the shaft/stub axle etc if that makes sense

Thought Stromba got his from yozzasport and wasn't happy with the brakes IIRC, so not sure one of those mounts would make a good template/master.

Heard from someone who fitted these once that you need to grind away some of the hub or something to get it to fit properly so not the easiest DIY mod with those brackets.

Rich
18-01-2007, 13:58
yeh we had to grind a little of the hub away on richys williams, no biggie took 2 minutes and richys work spot on

matty
19-01-2007, 07:45
Well if Bayliss's bracket is not from Yozzasport and doesn't need any messing with the hub I think I would personally prefer to wait till next month when his bracket could be used.

richy
19-01-2007, 19:37
matty, im not sure which strombas are but with mine all they needed was alittle filing off the hub to square it off, just to give clearance for the caliper

I work at a garden tractor manufacturing company where they do all the designing with AutoCAD, Solid Edge etc as they make near enough everything themselves......as u said...once they have designed something and got the drawing etc, it takes no time at all to cut in the machine. These types of brackets would not take very long to make.

are people still interested at 50quid?

I'd still be interested at 50 quid - thanks for your efforts Tony. I think I can source the new pipes okay but where is the cheapest place to source the Dynalite caliper? £50 each was mentioned earlier in the thread, and also RallyDesign, but looking at their website they are £96.50, or is that the price for a pair?

Also can someone confirm that these fit the standard disc and will clear a 15" wheel, as both are key requirements for me.

tony16v
24-04-2007, 10:25
yeah these will use the std discs and fit 15" wheels...

that 96+vat per caliper = 112 x 2 + 50 quid for the pads ...

I reckon I have a place that will do discs and pads for 225 all in...

I'm in if we are talking about £300 for the lot. I don't mind to pay a bit more for braided hoses, of the correct length for a Williams, if you can source these too, otherwise I'll just take the brackets, calipers and pads and source my own hoses.

I dropped the bracket at the machine shop yesterday, so should have a prototype in the next few days... pics and details to follow...

Looks like I've sold all the calipers and pads I had ordered, so if people are wanting calipers and pads they need to let me know so I can make up another order form the states.

anyone got any questions PM me...

cheers

nice one tony, you should be able to sell quite a few of these sets when you get sorted. A great modification for any tuned williams/16v. I am looking forward to fitting mine to the cup car.

Ok, so I now have the calipers and pads from the states, worked out more expensive then I thought, cos of VAT, import duty and parcel force handling fee... but here they are...

http://www.rtoc.org/library/fileroot/CGUJWRMUGSYYOUAZWWXH.jpg

I'm ordering the hoses on Tuesday (from a well known company), and will chase the bracket as well..

Final prices for the complete kit will be know once I have all the parts... as I found out with the calipers things tend to work out more expensive then you first think...

any questions just ask...

cheers Tony.

So can you go over again what you are selling in the kit and the total price?

I assume its calipers + pads + brackets + hoses - you source your own discs?
