Read a few people talking about having welded there colums, the guy i got my valver from said mine needed done?? Whats it all about?? never heard of this, nor my off my mates who have worked for renault for years?

its just a small weld over the joint with the rubber dampener in, when the rubber breaks down the steering goes lose.

or just replace the whole thing

When the car is parked, try moving the steering if there is play in it ie you turn the wheel and the wheels don't move then more than likely the steering column joint is worn!

You can either replace the whole column, or have the worn joint welded up to eliminate any play.

Make sure the track rod ends aren't shagged first. Ive got a mint condition column with no play for sale if you want to replace it.

does this apply to valvers/williams with power steering? Cos mine wobbles a far amount! :shock:

yup, my old man welded mine up and its as good as new 8)
