Must say it's cheaper than it used to be. First got it with the Xsara I used to own and it went up every year for 3yrs even though my callout discount also went up.

Ended up near £130 so I told 'em to shove it.

It's just cost be £130 to have both me and the mrs covered on the top option. 8)

I've been a wimp since I passed my test ten years ago and I've come to love the little yellow card after the amount of times it's sorted me out!

Think they have a maximum amount of callouts before you have to start paying, hence join both and works out lots cheaper and get double callouts

How are they money grabbing its a wonder they make anything off breakdowns some of them must cost a bloody fortune.

One of our free callouts ages ago was when my dads 21 turbo did a head gasket in penzance cornwall. The guy picked us us and drove us all the way home to barnsley. Took about 8 or 9 hours, so thats about 100 quid in wages plus 100 quid in fuel at least.

lol.

My fiance when she was on her mums policy used 4 call outs in a year, and 2 were for locking her keys inside  Her mum had a warning letter saying she was to use no more and the policy was likley to go up!

Hence she was pushed off her policy and onto mine.

I still reckon they make some decent money - the more reliable cars become the more they'll make...

Its tight basts like us that dip into their profits :D

i joined the rac in july as i did'nt want to be left stranded when the gearbox blows ( the reason i got it ) so far ive used it twice, once for nicks ( wazza ) car when his clutch cable went on the way home from pod, other time was mine, battery went flat in traffic. had a few bad experiances with the aa so am staying well away.
