So it seems in the last couple of days ive come into some money and im thinking of spending some of it on the clio, just thinking tho, wat could i get for it thats nothing massive such as the "big three" (throttle bodies, turbo, supercharger), just looking for relatively cheap mods that i will feel a little difference in. You all go on about these "breather mods" that work well with the 16v/williams, but what other parts are there apart from an air filter that are interlinked as a breather mod? Looking to spend around £500 all together, what do u think i could get with that and the kinda gains i wud get from it too

Any help wud be appreciated

Cheers
Nick

Some may call that a massive waste of money

I know they may well do, but going from a 1.4 to the 1.8 16v will do for the moment. Just have to get the 16v lump faster than a williams

Depends how much you have to spend and what you want from the engine performance wise.

Youve ruled out FI, so as far as NA goes, you need to concentrate on headwork, cams, and bottom end work to make it a screamer.

Either that and put in a 2.0 with cams and headwork, and have similar peak power with more torque lower down.

Well i sed i had about £500 to spend, but i have inherited a lot more, so i could stretch a lot more, but nothing stupid obviously.

well unfortunately for all of us, theres no such thing as cheap power!

A modified williams head, complete with a pair of Catcams camshafts and pulleys will cost around £1k from me, as an example.

Okay then, wat basic things can i do, that maybe wont give massive gains, but will make it a little more reponsive, how would cams, a remap, decat, panel filter work? or are you definately going need pulleys and other parts for the cams to work properly?

Why not go for the following perhaps as an idea:-

Exhaust + De-cat ~£300
IK / Panel Filter ~£25 -> £200
Chip ~£300
Cams + Verniers ~£600
Light Headwork ~£400
Lightened Fly + Crank ~£?

I don't know how exact the prices are, but for a rough ball-park figure that'll cost just over £1,500. Obviously, you don't need everything. Perhaps just get some Cams and Headwork done.

You don't have to get pulleys for the cams, but it just means they can't be set correctly, so it's stupid not too really, otherwise what's the point. :)

you say you've got a 16v engine ready to go in but not actually in yet, personally I would get my hand on a 2.0 bottom end and put that on with the 1.8 head. I know you said you've spent a lot of money on it but I still think it would be better value for money to go for a 2.0 as otherwise your just spending more money for less gains.

Sell it and buy a Williams using the 500quid extra.

Why did you slap a valver lump in if you only want to make it faster now? :?

Agreed with above. get a 2.0 botttom end to put in or at least spend the cash on head mods that can be transfered to the 2.0 bottom end in the future.

Well at the moment, everything has been put on hold, if u read my thread in the discussion section ull understand, but wen fixing the problem i have, could always slap a 2.0 megane bottom end on
