Really weird seems to be occuring more often now, mainly when im flooring it in 2nd get to around 4-5+ rpm, it suddenly stops accelerating completely like ive jerked my foot off the pedal and the whole car jerks violently :S

it seems to come back straight away, just like i've hit the limiter early except it doesn't bounce like it would on the limiter, also every time it happens my stereo turns on and off :S

any ideas?

A few things I can think of:
1) Bad earth. Check and make sure they are clean and tightened/connected properly.
2) Bad plugs/ plug cables/distributor.
3) Weak alternator. Should be a more than 13.5V when alternator is charging. Also check that aux belt is not slipping.
4) The stereo is taking up too much current. Disconnect that to check.

Sounds liek a misfire on all 4 cylinders, check coil pack, dizzy capand arm and king HT lead

I had this problem on my valver once, turned out my rocker cover gasket was leaking oil, and the plugs where misfiring.
Also what was related in my problem, was the power plug for the fuel pump under the seats.

Its a new cap and arm, leads look ok but how would I know if they're gone? And I've no idea what a coil pack is/looks like

if you have an amp check the power lead is not earthing out on the engine as it twists.

No amp but the engine does seem to clunk alot and when I drop the clutch sometimes its make a knocking noise? Replaced the dogbone and gearbox mount though...

I'll check the plugs later, might need to change them, they did look a bit fried last time I took them out :S

Whats a coil pack then? and where is it??

The teh box bolted to teh top of the n/s suspension turret

Its unlikley to be plugs, as its rare to get them all fail together

Possibly coil pack, as I changed it due to another problem and don't get the loss of power anymore. Also could have been loss connection as I've tidied up battery terminals, haven't changed anything else.
