View Full Version : changing mileage
iv recently purchased some clio 16v dials, does anyone know how i can change the mileage so it is the same as my old clocks? the dials are from a ph2. Thanks, Andrew.
try to dismantle both sets and swap the clocks over?
dismantle new set and change clocks with a screw driver
iv never done this but i guess it can be done
i've tried this, but my clocks are present clocks are from a ph3 1.2 so they are different fitments, i'm just a bit concerned about the mot/service because there will be about a 40,000 mile rise and the car has never been on the road.
2 ways you can wedge a screw drive betweeen the cogs to disengage the rotary mechanism and set to teh right mileage, or you can connect the speedo cable up, connect a drill to it on reverse and sit there for a while
okay thanks, will try this out when i have some time. if too much pressure is applied to the cogs will they snap? also will the small black clips that hold the mileage in place have to be slackened? Thanks, Andrew.
dunno mate never tried it just passing on what i've been told,. i started winding mine back and then thought **** it and just added a note in teh service history, and i kept the old dials incase anything was queried
Fair enough. Thanks for your input.
drill dont work. but screwdriver does. best to put a note like lunner says in ur history incase anything is questioned.
or just leave as is...

Im having this same problem, however my clocks need to go forward 20k. Is it the same principal? or will the drill trick work for going forwards?
They can be dismantled but not very easily and the dial face is VERY prone to finger prints which will ruin it. Best clocking it forward all the way round with a drill and an old bit of speedo cable.
pretty sure there was a guide on here regarding this... maybe in the members section.
