Does anyone have access to one of these, and just how different to the clio ones are they, manual ones that is, can they be modded to fit a clio?

Yep.

They're easily avialable and you can get quick racks.

I can get reconditioned mk2 racks for about £25 btw.

Exactly, quick racks was what i was after and they dont' look a million miles different to the clio manual racks

Im going to start looking in R5 Turbo circles ...or maybe the R5 turbo rack is quicker than the bogo clio item

I need the manual rack to have the same turning spec etc as a Williams rack

Manual rack compared to a std valver item is about 1/2 a turn longer lock to lock, dunno how that compares to a williams item

Looking at pics of it as long as dimentions are similar shoudl be a piece of piss to mount up and use an escort mk2 rack

Ive got my mate to measure one he's sending them tomorrow as im not at home. Its the pivot points that are critical as if these are different you'll get bump steer.

Am i right in thinking, sitting and visualising this in my head, if the piviot points are further apart from teh clio racks, the steering will be harder to turn and bump steer less.

If they are closer together then steering will feel lighter and bump steer and tramlining etc will be more apparent?

Wonder what the escort mk2 front track is compared to the williams?

No.

How bumpsteer occurs is when the bottom wishbone and steering arm scribe different arcs when looking from the front of the car, therefore pushing the rear of the wheel in and out as the centre stays on a fixed arc.

Gotcha, so piviot point has ot be in the exact same place as the wishbone piviot point

Thats the general rule. Could do with been the same pivot point widths as the clio.
