I have two very good condition Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's on the rear.

However on the front i have some Michelin Poilot SXGT's. They hve a lot of tread left but they tramline and are not very grippy.

I was thinking of getting 4 new Pilot exaltos in 195 fittement just to see what they are like as everyone seems to rate them. Mark you have 195s on the front and 185s on the rear. Shall i try this?

I have concerns that the 185 Pe2's might tramline like the sxgt's.

I really really really like the HX's i have on 0002. If feels amazing.

I would appreciate some advice.

And why would 195 tyres not tramline?

I think tramlioning is more to do with tyre make than size.

Pilot SXGT's - tramline
Piolt HX's - dont tramline
Michelin Energy - Dont tramline

I may swap the PE2's to the front and see if the tramlining stops.

yeah, the 185's tramline a lot less than the 195's I found Rob... but that's going from Yoko's to Pilots...

basically the 195's are miles cheaper, but I prefer the 185's handling and the ride's not as crashy. I may go back to 195/50 next, as i'm struggling to get grip with the cams in 1st and 2nd... sometimes 3rd.

i think it depends on how stiff the sidewalls are.

the Yoko and Pilot sidewalls are really stiff I find.

lol.... 11year old tyres... i think the rubber would be truely knackered after this time??? and im sure the science of rubber :D has come a long way since then ... you'll be impressed with either the pe2's or f1's.

Cars not been on the same tyres since it was manufactured. And yes it does feel amazing, even on '11 year old rubber'

Exalto 2s all the way...in 195/50 flavour off course! :P

Tyres will tramline due to stiffer sidewalls.

Goodyear F1s are the best, if you're going down the 195/50 route. If not do the PE2 thing. At £32.40 for the F1s you really can't argue.

You getting 195's, as i think thats the only size they come in? You pay £36 quid a tyre?

Im tempted at that price just to see what 195's are like.

I'm getting 195s yes. £32.40 at the mo. Whether they turn up is another issue.
