Hi guys, got 2 amps in the car now, the alternator/belt seem to be making an awful racket. I have fitted a volt meter, when i start it up it seems to be at 14 volts, dropping to just over 12 when i turn things on and move.

Im doubtful its charging (when i have headlights and heated window on etc..) as after having thes all on for a 30min drive, i notice the voltmeter flickering in time with the music.

Is there any uprated alternators that i could fit to my 1.4RN, for example would a valver alternator give me more current?

2 batteries would stop the flickering, but would they stop the noise, till its charge dropped? or would the noise be exactly the same, as the draw from both the batteries would be exactly the same as just for one.

Im not EXACTLY sure how the alternators sensors wouls work in the 2 battery scenario

Cheers

Andy

The valver alternator wouldnt fit. I know BB performance do uprated alternators for valvers but not sure about 1.4's.

Does anyone know anything about the effects of adding a second battery?
