Hi Evo,
I use one a "RED TOP 40" ,I would not say they are lot lighter, but they are compact, and with having a "gel" as opposed to acid (conventional battery),you can mount them any way you want   ,with no fear of leakage.
No real problems the "40" figs "Cranking current @ 20C for 5 seconds is 1150A "
Down side ~~ if it is one,If you run high compression ratio in your engine,I was advised by an ex~ FORD rally mechanic, who worked on the Escort MAXI Kit cars 8) 8) .They had an auxillary battery connector via an ANDERSON jack plug arrangement, very similar to single seater racing cars,to get them started first thing, and also each time they left service/parc ferme.
They also need to be kept on trickle charge,if the car is not used regularly ~~ and also it is a special charger   .
If you look in the Demon Tweeks catalogue, there is loads of info.
I have not run mine with the auxillary light pod etc etc ~~ so cannot tell help you further.
Hope this helps you
Rodders.

i was considering one for mine - as standard batterys seamed to spit from the fill holes even when they were tightended down.

Not cheap are they !

I had one on my hot rod and on my drag car, which both worked fined. However they were only used for basic lights (6" sealed beams and single bulb rear lights, couple of bike indicators) and running the engine on the hot rod, and just for starting the drag car.

When used with all the electrical systems of a Clio I wouldn't think it will cope.

Fookin hell how big a rip off is demon tweeks lol Thinking of getting one of these...from rally design I presume the red 40 is the lightest I can go for without killing it lol

Demon Tweeks have always been a rip off. They're catalogue is good tho find out which parts you want then go elsewhere to buy em.

Depending on how tight your engine is you can get away with a smaller battery, i have used imp / midget battery one of smallest standard battery halfods sell they come with 3 year warrenty so each season take it back for a new one

red tops are great and due to size you can fit inder or behind passenger seat but depending on the distance of leads willeffect cranking so a slave uint is essential

A lot of cost, to be fare if you sent a frosty morning removing all sound deaderning on floors you would save more wieght in the car than that gainded by buying a redtop.
