B&m quickshift includes a new gearstick integrated gearknob....but seeing as it costs around 140 quid....just buy someone really strong superglue!?

nope no glue it fitted on really tight, my old one was totaly nakard aswell would just fall off !

this one is a direct replacement one from mike172 and it just pushed on and then i tapped it down with a hammer, had to take the centre out tho so i didnt smash it

tbh i think the amount of use / stresses etc its placed under i wouldnt bother... get a new one :D

if i wanna gonna glue it tho... i would use epoxy resin, and shit loads of it.

and dont touch it for at least a few hours afterwards! to let it set.

I use 3M VHB tape for the gear knob when it fell off the last time.

http://www.3m.com/us/mfg_industrial/adhesives/vhb/index.jhtml

Wrapped a small strip of it around the metal tip of the gearstick and jam the gear knob on. Gear knob hasn't budged for a long time. BTW, VHB tapes are not the usual adhesive foam tapes, and quite expensive. I think the bigger DIY stores should have them.

AFAIK teh quickshift is simple a shorter stick, no change to linkage...this is what i've been told by someone whuo fitted one to their's....dont flame me if its wrong, lol

How can it be a shorter linkage? The linkage still has to reach the gearbox surely?

The ratio of lengths above and below the pivot point where the shifter mounts onto the car is different. i.e. the section under the car (bottom of the bit u hold) is LONGER. this means less hand movement is required to get the same movment at the gearbox.

im in the middle of making my own....

You'll need to glue it on really. I changed the gear knob on mine and used super glue to stick it on and it aint moving no where now!!
