Just thought I would show you this :lol: :lol:
It is as near a replica of the "Works" Gp A gearbox mount :wink: :wink: .
I bought a R19 mount,a couple of bottom arm bushes,some machining and welding,and there you have it,I supplied the bits :wink: :wink: .My mate did the rest £50 :wink: :wink: ~~ a snip considering the "Proper" one is in the region of £300/400.
To mount it,you need to have a coulpe of "L" shaped brackets welded on top of the subframe, ~~ Then forget about gearbox mounts for good.
Not sure,whether it clears the Power steering rack :cry: :cry: ,but it could be modded if required.Mine has no power steering

Ok,will bolt it onto the gearbox and take some pictures,also I will take one of the modification to the subframe :roll: :wink: .

can someone confirm that the renault megane has some thing similar with a damper fitted to it

where the dog bone bolts to the gearbox. between there and the subframe.
I cant say i remember a damper Maxiboy....may be mistaken tho.

well just looked it up to make sure.megane rear mount has a lower dog bone mount like the clio but has a damper from the top to a bracket on the subframe. might see if i can find one and mod it to fit a clio

Two are from the Grp "A" catalogue ~~ showing the bracket,that bolts/welds on the top of the subframe :wink: :wink: ,easy to do,
The next two are the ones fixing it to the gearbox,apologies if they are not too good,but I think you clever people will get the gist of where it goes

In the last picture the hole in the box is where the speedo cable goes I think,This is a JB3 014 box,I have just had rebuilt,and is for my spare car (Irish Tarmac Racer :wink: ) :wink:

Hi Mat,
Just had look at my Haynes manual,the dogbone,looks to bolt below the subframe,whereas this arrangement bolts above it,so effectively you can get rid of the old mount :roll: :roll:
If it stops P**sing sdown during today,and I aint too hung over :oops: :oops: ,I will take a picture of the actual subframe in situ on the Irish car :wink: :wink:

This mount actually supports the weight of the engine, rather than stabalising the engine.

no. supporting means it has weight downward/pushing force on it , where as stabilising means its just holding it steady

not realy i would have thought when that mount isnt designed for support i would say. might be wrong tho.
Whether it supports or stabilises :o :o ,It worked quiet well for the Grp "A" Rally Clios,Maxi Clios and the MAXI Meganes :lol: :lol: .
I have an original set,which has a cast aluminium piece,instead of the steel one used here.To get the best results,it needs the other two R19 engine mounts as described in "Gunners" thread elsewhere.

where this pic of your subframe ?
These are the mounts.They are definetely not for a daily car as you are shaking all the way.The set of those three mounts is more than 1k but they are no longer available.If you have any questions of how they fit or anything else i can take some fotos to see how it fits...

the main reason for the mounts though is that the group A cars were able to be worked on easier as they had no top mountings allowing cams and head etc much easier access for repairs etc
As DIMKAIS says,not really for daily use :cry: ,as well as costing £1400 plus vat :oops: ,if you still want power steering you need this little set up,unless you modify the rear mounting http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/Cliorod/Picture442.jpg.
The pump alone costs £1600 plus :cry: :cry: so not a really cheap conversion.
Maxi ~~ In International Rallying,you are not allowed to alter/change the internals of an engine,once the event has started ie cams/valves/heads etc.only the ancillaries,Transmission is ok :wink:
