Sure this has been asked lots so sorry!

Right when my brake pipe spanners, discs and pads come i'm going to try and swap the 16v beam to the 1.4.. How hard is this to do?

Is it just a straight swap and is all I need the handbrake cables of the valver and that's it?

thanks.

I was gonna say it didnt fit as its wider to encorporate the wideer arches, but then i realised you've got a dimmer!

Yup, i yhink my arches will be just fine ;)

How much wider is the 16v beam to the 1.4 then?

Its 50mm wider. Pretty pish to do undo the shocks, brake pipes, handbrake cable and then the 4 mounting bolts and it'll drop out.

Shouldn't have to change anything should just swap straight over.

Have you checked the master cylinder you may have to change it from the RT to the 16v one if they're different to cope with the rear disks.

Ok took all the bolts off, and what a pain, such a slow process with the breaker bar! 2 things are stopping me from taking it off though:

Cheers matt, don't I need the handbrake cable off the valver or anything? Not sure about the master cylinder but I know mine is worn anyway... fancy fitting one off your valver for me :D

Not sure if the handbrake cables for disks and drums are the same i'm sure somebody will know.

Undo the brake lines at the flexy hose where it goes from the axle to the bias valve.

yup you need the valver cables! And they won't budge. Will it be easier at the hose then?

They're always a twat wherever they are. Spray it with WD40 and leave it overnight then get some heat on em and they might come off.
