recently bought a megane BE from bass direct from here, knowing full well it needed some attention. so i finally got round to stripping it today after being rained off from work.

here's what i found......

so, my question, is there anything that i cant do with this crank or is it fooked?
if it is, can you still buy them and how much?
and my last question, are valver cranks the same as these or not?

thanks in advance, steven. :)

1.8 cranks are different.

I can pretty much guarantee you will need a new crank.

Measure the big eng journal diameter to confirm.
Std size is 48mm, max undersize is 47.75mm...so if the diameter across any axis is less than 47.75mm..the crank is fooked. Tho you have to remember that that journal is damaged, so you need to take that into account.

*edit* use a micrometer to measure the diameter

i've heard that before but many people has disputed it

Geometrically the diesel crank is the same. Tho some have a different end seal diameter.

Its actually lighter aswell, and has rolled fillets!

Cam pulley end.

As for cost...depends if your local breakers will split a 1.9 diesel engine...but 50-100 ata guess.
