welcome mate, nice car

i had an R5 with a valver lump last year. much to allot of peoples negative comments it was amazing. that same car running a standard valver lump plus green induction kit and exhaust is as quick as my williams

im considering buying it back and putting the williams engine from mine into it

Iam still getting to grips with mine as complete hybrid no engine numbers on engine apart from GTfollowed by numbers, the twin 45's help.
Iam unsure how to check if a 20ltr or 1.8 as no engine number so may even be a lowely 1.8..... but goes like stink :D :D :D :D

yea i bet mate

they handle surprising well also. i was expecting loads of understeer but i rated mine better than a GTT engined 5, and that was just with 5 turbo shocks and apex 50mm springs

a few pics of my old one

Nice clean set up, the car was a barn find on ebay so needs a little tlc cosmetically, however after a spanner check she surived 1 40min race and a 4 hour track day.

looks cool mate

thats what i love about the F7 engines. start them and abuse them and they generally keep going and going

try what you did with a C1J and i dont think you would have still been going after 4 hours

lol

nice motor.....this is mine !

Nice car bring it out in tintops 40 min races for 275-285 for one or 2 drivers 30 min practise and 40 min race

Good value good mixed grids
Regs 1a or 1b tyres and thats about it

What series do you race in? or just a track toy

To be fair it took me a year to go racing I do between 2 and 5 on a good year budget allowing, and 2-4 track days which our cheaper.

However once you have done your first start in a race nothing quite like it.....

Tintops is quite clean average grid 25-30 cars I was mid field 1st time out in 5 and I let them get a start as most dinks our first corner on the 40 minute races you dont need to go bonkers (too much red mist in some) same as a track day do your sighting laps and let every idiot soin of in first30 minutes then go out and have a play.

Need to sort a trailer to get to oulton, very tempting

Nice car that. Must be a good conb a revvy n/a engine in a light weight shell. I was told that the r5 is a lot lighter than the clio 16v, is this just down to the extra weight of the f7p engine or is the shell lighter too?

Its like driving a coke car, theres not a lot to it suspension wise same as clio track is wider on clio, same brakes and basic suspension set up.

infact a mk1 clio dash bolts straight into a 5, typical development from a car manufacturer.

The main differnce is the lack of safety the 5 died a death as did many small cars rover metro etc as from memory they scored zero on the ncap scale, no crumple zones and very thin panels.

No air bags no abs no power steering, very basic heater etc. the last 5's used the 1.7 8v engine hence the ease of fitting the 1.8/2.0 engine as mounts are there gearboxes interchange.

The engine revs well it goes of the clokc as the turbo rev counter stops at 7.

For a track/race car it is ideal as it has kept up with some ex works cars from single make championships much to my surprise and I am still learning how the car handles
