Would this arc welder be suitable to weld 1.5mm thick stainless-steel tube? If so, what rods and stuff would I need?
I know a MIG would be perfect but this one is dirt cheap and I'll hardly ever use it.

Arc welders can weld stainless steel. But they are most suitable for thicker/heavier goods, such as fx. solid beams and thick (read over 5-8 mm) plate. For your application, a tig welder would be optimal. Some handyman stores sell them quite cheap. but you will have to get the correct gas for it. When welding in stainless Argon gas is required.
As mentioned a MIG welder can be used, but again it has to run on Argon gas, and you will have to use stainless welding wire aswell..

If it was me i would buy a cheap TIG welder, they takes some getting used to, but they aren't to hard to use. And ofcourse you can use it on regular steel aswell, but keep in mind that a MIG is best/easiest for this.

Kind regards
Dennis
