Hi,

Ive used some foam and duck taped it to the exhaust to stop it hitting the torsion bar, it works a treat, but i have fears of it melting or catching light.

So i am looking for some osrt of foam that is heat retardant? any one know where i can get some, googles not being very helpful.

i thought about doing this as my exhaust was hitting the underside of the car. then i thought about polyflex rubbers. but just replaced the normal cheap rubbers and she was sorted

A old cut up innertube with jubilee clips would work better if you wish to use padding as a fix.

You can eventually get the exhausts sitting quiet.

I havent driven it with it on as of yet, only up and down the road to test for rattles which is didnt i wont be driving it anywhere until i have a proper fix.

Theres only about 3 x 3cm worth of foam i cut of a kneeling pad for kneeling in the garden lol.

Im thinking perhaps cutting an old oven glove up?

Or some terry cloth that is heat ressistant...http://www.magidglove.com/product.asp?dept_id=77&pf_id=403

A reasonably good fix is to use tie wraps on the 2 back box hangers pulling it sidewards to move it away from the torsion bar / chassis.
And you can also use them to pull the exhaust higher if needed.

Not a brilliant way of doing things but a good temporary measure.

Some pictures would be helpful. You could try getting some metal ties or stripped copper cables to secure the exhaust?

foam?! nice.

if you are going down that route tho, i'd use rockwool, the same stuff you insulate lofts with, totaly heat and fire proof!

why not just weld a hanger onto the zorts :?:

Well heres the story, i payed ATS Euromaster £20 to stop the exhaust knocking.

They spent about 40 mins hitting it with hammers and welding this and that.

THey did the best they could but it still knocked a bit, but only made one knocking noise.

Upon inspectinc the exhasut, it was a LOT stiff than before, so they did a good job in that respect, the only place it was rubbing was on torsion bar.

So instead of taking it back and paying em another £10 to do that ill just do it myself, not going near them noobs again, they were wacking the exhaust full pelt with hammers, i was watching from the reception room cringing lol.
