valver clutches are very heavy, if its not slippin then clutch is fine.

as for gears, first point of call is change rear bottom engine mount (known as 'dogbone' mount) as this can cause difficulty in selecting gears. try hammering it in third then letting off the accelerator, does it jump out of gear? if so more than likely dog bone mount.

also if your having a problem getting it into reverse, (this will probably sound funny) put it into 1st gear then into reverse see if that helps.

probably the synchos if that works

Reverse doesnt have a syncro, just ram it in

Nah all clio 16v's ive seen will grind in unless you feel it in gently.

i select 2nd then reverse, cos that crunch can be annoying and doubt it does the box any good

crunches from 2nd to 3rd and or pops out of gear

when you put your car in first it stops/slowsthe flywheel..an old S.A.S. trick, as per paragraph 5 annex 3-4 in the SAS almanac.

ive had my valver two weeks now mate, the clutches are very heavy! nothing to worry about.

My gearbox went the day i bought the car, it was whining like hll in all the gears and popping out of third. at the end of the day i wouldnt select third at all.

yours sounds fine :)
