Gear Box Help

just driving today and has suddenly gone loose apart from 5th gear, doesnt ever try to come out for gear or not go in, but has alot more give in it now. this happened once before when i firt bought the car and a friend sorted it but dont really see him now. any ideas on a fix for this??

only just been replaced, it springs back to centre when i move it too the right but to the left it seems to have lost it

The linkage spring has bust, i could see where your mate had bodged it.
