I think it's time we did this lads...it will take a but of planning but I think we should be able to get maybe 6-7 clios to go on the ultimate driving experience/holiday.....

What do we think?

Oh and please lets not let this thread die and put off to another year....

vts_saxo

I would be interested in this trip :)

I would be definatly interested, one of the main reasons of sorting the car out.

What time of year? would be better to get it just out of season. Before it gets busy and ferry prices creep back up.

excellent good to see we have some interest...when are the dates announced Gaz?

To make the distance worthwhile are we thinking 4-5 days stay?

northy
13-11-2006, 09:09
was planning on spa then nurburg over a 10 day stay.

Martin
13-11-2006, 09:30

Martin
13-11-2006, 09:31

northy
13-11-2006, 09:36
will be a fair wack as it is martin .....im hoping to make the most of this once in a life time chance and do it right !

J o n
13-11-2006, 09:42
I'm going next year regardless, not doing Spa as well though, that's too much tracking for such a short space... so I'll prolly come along depending on when you go as my Dad has already organised me a route.

If I get mine booked in the next month how about I post details up and you can just come along with me? I can include the Spa route as well, but I'll prolly just passenger up for that one! Got satnav too now which will come in handy :D

I'd go with that option, I'd doubt I'll be selling the Nana that soon. It's part of the family now!!

J o n
13-11-2006, 11:37
Gaz, do not sell that car mate, it gives you no trouble and is a well sorted toy... if anything you should be running it on bodies now lad

I could be on for this...depends on the timing as I'm getting wed in June and am saving like mad lol. There is a sticky on Cliosport of a campsite 2 mins from the ring and only costs about 11 euros a night

take one of the chuckle brothers (aka Northrops) as the likelyhood of them driving as about the same as my chance of playing for Leeds United... okay, bad example, Chelsea...

Im defo up for it, as ill be working/bumming about, so plenty free time and money (hopefully!)

Not camping tho, hotel for me I'm afraid, I need somewhere to plug my straighteners in of a morning. lol

Martin

Craig and the rsc lot stayed at a really nice big house type jobby when they went looked right mint and was on the doorstep of the ring. Plus it was cheap.... Might be worth a look ....especially as I expect some people to drop out we might end up with 9-10 people going.

So whats the plan??

northy
17-11-2006, 11:39
Im chatting to the french clio williams boys - to see if we can meet up with them for a trackday aswell.

J o n
17-11-2006, 11:45
sod you lot, I'm organising my own trip and booking it lol

if the dates are good feel free to come alone, more the better, but I have to go one way or the other!

J o n
17-11-2006, 11:55
not at all mate! lol

just sceptical this will happen to be perfectly honest, we cant even get people to turn up to a local meet, so basically I'll post up my route, hotels I'm using etc etc and if people want to go then good stuff, more the merrier, just wouldn't organise hotels for however many people and want to be left with egg on my face

J o n
17-11-2006, 12:35
fair enough then dude, I wouldn't bother organising it for everyone, just give people all the necessary details so they can come along and when people have confirmed that they are deffo going it just needs a meeting point, problem solved. I was only saying to do it this way as some of my mates want to go, but they are mainly scooby owners, but again I wasn't sure how many would seriously go, apart from Sy that is.

stew
17-11-2006, 12:41
well i can 100% garuantee ill be there. and thats drivin from NE scotland u bunch of fairies!

its far enough away that people CAN book time off work, and we can have proper williamsclio car holiday. i need to try and squeeze as much as i can into 07, being just finished uni, no "proper" job, no wife or kids (fingers crossed!), living at home.

21-11-2006, 00:55
Sounds like a good idea that jay. So roughly how much would it cost in total? i know it would depend on accomodation, duration of trip etc but what are the usual costs (ferry, petrol, laps aroung ring etc) because im going to have to budget

northy
21-11-2006, 09:06
its not going to be cheap - but for me its a once in a lifetime chance :D

Maz
21-11-2006, 10:22
We looked into it last year, Spa and the ring over 10 days , staying in hotels, food for two people in the evo etc and it was round about £1k .. im sure it can be done for a hell of alot less though :D

J o n
21-11-2006, 10:44

Last time we went we got ADAC cover, they're the company that do the recovery from the actual ring so if you break down on trackside you don't have to pay extra. They cover the whole of europe. The only pain is all their documentation is in German

Me and a mate (him in his 205Mi16 on bike carbs, me in the Williams) are planning a couple of trips there...im sure we can tie one in with this little outing.

Also planning to go to Le Mans for the 24hr race....anyone else thinking of being there? (16/17th June).

if you do go to the Le Mans 24hr, make sure you get there a few days before if you are camping on site! gets a tad busy lol, had a great time earlier this year when i went! :D got no plans to go next year tho, i fancy going spa/nurburgring etc

Just been looking at some dates for the ring and found it is open to the public on these days. I sudgest we go from Hull over to Holland and make a trip through the Black Forest in Germany as well. Maybe set off on a Friday night to hull B&B there for the night, early Ferry to Holland aim to be at the ring for Sunday, seems to be the best time to go, as it isn't open during the week in the daytime.

What do people think, I need to book my holidays from work asap though as we are only alload so many people off during the summer months.

Evo was a shed  lol

Havn't got a clue what im getting Stew :? need to get my thinking cap on

J o n
11-12-2006, 19:01
get a 172 FF for daily use and a 172 Ph1 track slag, sorted.

dont bother with an Evo unless it's got warrenty imo. I'd get a Classic Scooby instead, not as good but MUCH easier to live with, the AYC service on the Evo's is a joke

Maz
11-12-2006, 19:10
Don't want a 17poo lol that would be like downgrading   lol

Daily drive won't be a evo or skyline  not until im on 40k a year and have my onw house anyway

J o n
11-12-2006, 19:16
true, they are shit, but I'd deffo think about getting a 172 ph1 as a track toy, cheap, newish and pretty reliable (most reliable 172 or 182 apparently! )... for a daily drive... erm, well seeing as you work from home is there really any point Marie? lol

I think you should get an E39 M5 personally... that's my next car I have decided... not sure if I'll keep the Clio as well though :? But deffo 172 for track, not as good as a Willy imo, but will be easier to live with.
