As you quite know the 1.8 16v engines are good to a certain point, so after hunting around on ebay ive managed to get hold of a williams engine (F7R) one with 77k. Big thanks to jay s for driving it back all the way from clacton on sea, so ive had the engine for the last month or so which is now at stans at ap developments getting the once over. Im off to Stans in the morning meaning im going to be up around 4 am to get to there at around 8am. Im going to be using the valver gearbox as i know it strong and only on 62k, as the engine is out im going to put on a new clutch, existing alternator, water pump, new cambelt and aux belt. o fingers crossed i should be a happy bunny on the drive home.

Pics and diary to follow

What a weekend and im still recovering from it, id like to thank stan and jay for there hard work over the weekend, it was a laugh and good to get to know what work can be carried out.Stan works to a high standard and i would recommend anyone for his services. But we had a mojor problem when we done the compression test to find there is a failure on cylinders 3 and 4, so im in the middle of getting some kind of compensation but i have a gut feeling that i wont have a hope in hells chance. But stan will carry out the head gasket work, ur the man stan !!! this was a buggar as we were 220 miles from home, the only alternative of getting home was the train costing an ass raping 58.00 smackers and that hurt. Hopefully the car will be done for the weekend.

UPDATE !!!!

The head was skimmed yesterday as the head gasket failed in two places, this split were the oil and water ways meet causing the cream cheese builld up. Craig from ap delvelopments will hopefully get it up and running today, i said he's more than welcome to give it some around the black mountains  .

So yet another trip to the land of the funny talking people, but i will enjoy the drive home :D

Looking good mate.

Whats it pulling like, a train?

What size are your wheels mate, and what are they again?

RH cups?

wazza16v
19-11-2006, 13:06
alright mate it pulls like a train, so much better than the valver and better on the juice too as you dont need to build up the revs to go quick, the wheels are 15x8 rh cups with 195 goodyear f1's stretched

Andy P
19-11-2006, 13:36
But the hanlding isnt too terific on stretched walls and 8" rims

Looks good though, are they available in 14"?

Winston
