well, I've had the car a few months now and by this period of ownership on the Williams it was at the start of an episode of being off the road for almost 6 months trying to get it through it's MOT... and having other bits fixed at the same time, like a new gear box... that came to a few thousand pounds damage. So far the 17poo has cost me £350 for a new PAS line due to a leak, which £215's of I got back as I didn't need it, instead it had to be a custom bit making up, which is done but needs to be braized.

So reliability it's been okay, nothing major at all, just unfortunate that it was a custom bit, but not expensive to replace.

As for driving it still feels quite raw, steering is well weighted and you get good feedback, still not quite on a level with the Williams though.

Handling is subjective, but even after getting used to the lowness it's simply not even in the same league... could be these coilovers, but after much thought on it they will be one of the last things to get changed and it will be staying as low as snakes bollocks because they look like you driving around with the jack fully extended otherwise...

performance isn't really something that's fair to compare, but suffice to say it's in a different league, just a shame it weighs as much as it does...

all in all I'm happy with it, would recommend one if you fancy something a bit newer that's cheap as hell to buy.

well mine wasn't AS cheap like, but then it's not quite normal, but in general they go for next to nothing... NEVER putting a kill power chip on it, think i'll stick with the uber pimp Omex600... might put one in if the car becomes to fast to drive

oh, they are hairdressers, okay I see... lol

wouldn't really go as far to say it's a hairdressers car, but if you say so lol

Jesus, yours is one of the very few Mk2's I like.

They just dont do it like the Mk1's, but its the same with most older cars, the older models have a lot more character.

Not really a hairdressers car tho.

cheers, it's deffo grown on me, like the Cup's and Trophy's too, but that's about it, rest just look too girly and bland imo. Mk1's deffo have MILES more character.

My car is 100% hairdresser. And I love it. ;)

It's the back end of Mk.2's that I can't stand. I dunno what the designers were playing at. The Ph.2 mk.2's look great right up to the B pillars and then they go tits up. It looks like the arse end of another car.

How come nobody's taken the best of both worlds and put a 172 engine in a proper Clio? Do they physically not fit?

They do, but F7R's are just nicer and effectively better base engines to work on.

J o n

yeah, as Ben says there's no point, the F7R is actually a better more tunable engine
