I'm thinking about changing my angel eye headlight and puting my car back to standard then getting v16 bumpers bonnet etc. I'll need to get some new headlight unit, but i would like to change the bulbs as the ones i had in my old car weren't very bright. I've looked on ebay, but there are loads on there and it's sort of hard to work out which are best. Has anyone brought any off ebay? it's a mk1 clio btw. I like the HID lights, but the full conversion kit is a bit much for me at the minute.

The brightest lights (bulbs) you can buy are basically the ones with the lowest Kelvin number but are also the yellowist. If you want a 'HID effect' light these have a high Kelvin number eg 7000K which gives them a white/blue/purple tint but means they give off less light!

HID kits go for just over £100 now I think so not that dear :p

I got some off ebay btw, there were 'show lights' and not street legal and they were very white, looked the shit but didn't last too long and didnt give off that much light compared to my more yellow bulbs. The guy did send me a new pair for free though when I mailed him about the blown ones.

I have these bulbs: http://www.priracing.com/product.php?xProd=70&xSec=33&jssCart=9e80a577e813d56fa2f20f64dfcb9682

And for what they cost i am happy with the performance of them.

the side lights a small capless 5W bulb, the headlight is a convential twin element low/high beam bulb.

Like I said on retro relay the mofos, improve the output a lot

like this

google you'll find loads. I'm sure there used to be a guide on CS about it as well.

Clios I have tested have been as low as 10V at the headlgiht bulbs whilst alt output is 14V.

I've got a set of PIAA bulbs - rated at 55/60 but put out 100/110 - and they're superb 8) :D

matbrown commented on them when he did my willy track so they must make a noticeable difference!
