im going to buy a willy engine soon and will be rebuilding it in spare time?its decided that new shells,piston rings cambelt clutch will be fitted?anything else you can add so this engine will be reliable?also im considering having the crank reground and lightened and balanced?cheers lads,

New waterpump
New Auxilary Belt
New Thermostat & Seal

And obviously plugs, dizzycap e.t.c

Theres the only ones extra i can think you would need.

Oil pump if you are rich, they are £150 or so from renault but i guess it would be a good idea.

Im not sure about liners, i think they DONT use wet liners, what ever that means, but ill let someone more knowledgable confirm that.

No liners.

Measure oil clearances to see if you actually need a crank regrind.

You may aswell change the crank oil seals while your there. Alos strip the head, check seats and change stem seals.

Full dynamic balnnce of cranktrain (crank+pulleys+bolts+fly+clutch cover) inc lighten fly is £200 from me.

Strip head, ahve valve seats re-cut and machine valves, valve stem oil seals, tappets, skim head (ofc) - my local place charges £2 per valve and £2 per valve seat, and £35 to skim a head

its all not as expensive as i thought then,lol still costs tho,but will be worth it when done

Think in total everything i did on engine cost about £800, but £200 of that was work stan did on crank and flywheel

pop the water jacket core plugs and scrape and wash the crap out
