check
the colour of the oil
any noises coming from the engine from cold that dont saound normal
jack up the wheels and check for play on the wheel bearings
look for corrosion on the brakelines
all electrics are working especially rear wash wipe.
bring a magnet to check the arches arnt full of filler.
look into the servicing history, see how well its been looked after.
regular oil changes more important than mileage IMO
for leak stains on interior roof lining
engine mounts for excessive play.
condition of cat > back exhaust
marks on the dash behind steering wheel indicate its been off a few times
whinning noises from steering rack
rust on the wheel arches and tailgate
bad resprays have a mask line on the tailgate
wrong or replaced stickers, easy give away for a respray.
look for the gold wheels with the polished metal rim.
doors all close properly
check gears engage problery and dont jump out in traffic (any strage noises)
check the chasis numbers with the MOTs
Vin plate in A1 condition
rear windscreen heater elements not damaged
window etchings all correspond
thats as much as i care to remember....
