View Full Version : Clicking sound
In the morning i seem to get a loud Clicking sound, it goes away once the engine warms up! i found out its the pulley up from the alternator the belt seems to jump off and makes a clicking sound! does this mean the belt is to tite?
Cheers,
Andrew
If it stops when the engine is warm, the ticking will be the tappets.
They are hydrallic (sp :? ) so are non adjustable, you can start with an oil change, But on the whole, noisy tappets is a common issue with the F7 engine's.
no mate its nothing to do with the tappets! its 2 do with the alternator belt lol
yeah mine did the same when the tensioner come loose, sounds like a slapping kinda noise, just tightened it up and not heard it since
cheers mates ill give that a go :D
Fair enough, just never heard of a AUX belt Clicking :?
Sqreeching yes, but not clicking. Why would it go away when the engine is warm?
it def did on mine, u could see the belt hopping lol as said just tightened the tensioner back up and it has never come back!
or the relief valve in the slowly dying PS pump.

Why would it go away when the engine is warm?[/quote]
cause the engines metal. when the temp raises it expands tensioning the belt slightly
good point, but its a well known fact that the tensioin on belts decrease (ie they get looser) when the engine is warm
