View Full Version : Brake Upgrade
Is there any upgrade other than buying 4 pots for a valver?... As my standard brakes are poo and need some stoppage power  :D
Cheers
Ive heard some of them brembo grooved discs and some good pads do the trick. If your calipers have seen better days then refurbing / buying new ones will make a huge difference as well.
R21Turbo calipers, 285mm discs and a bracket... aswsome, makes my valver brakes look poo.

Std discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads. Then just get the existing system checked/cleaned up etc.
Plenty fine in my book. I'd steer clear of any drilled/grooved discs.

1, 285mm disks from a 21turbo?
2, What bracket is need? Again is it off a 21?
Need to be clear before go buying anything
Cheers
std discs/calipers, braided lines, dot 4, ferodo pads....not sure wot mine are but i think they ds 2500. red in colour. done brunters and oulton, on track pretty much all day at oulton..no fade wotsoever, and it was commented by the passengers(and yozza driving) how well the brakes pulled u up.
The discs are off a TXi or TXi (can't remember which) as those are 4stud. The bracket needs making will cost about £35-40 alot of hassle though so i'd just get a good set of pads.
well id say 4pots but you dont want them!
other then that either a 285mm conversion set from k-tec etc and some decent fast road pads/braided hoses and complete renew of brake fluid!
im currently in the process of fitting omp discs, goodrich braided lines front and back, ECB kevlar pads, dot 4 fluid. Hopefully i will elminate the fade i got at cadwell.
thinking of fitting an in car bias valve and removing the crappy reno item. anyone done this? how involved would it be?

I would love 4 pots, but just dont have the cash, so need a cheaper but still effective option... Cheers for the help guys :D :D

I run everything as per 2Live but no braided lines. People have commented on how well mine stops on track when the ABS is dis-engaged and the pads are up to temp.
I've done 2 x Anglesey, 1.5 x Elvington, 1 x Cadwell and a sprint day. Add to that 20,000 miles and they're only half worn.
No point spending any more in my book.

Exactly to the item what I've just had done - not quite upto full strength yet, breaking these in slowly with the lack of use
But I can still tell they're gonna be awesome - as they're already better than previous stuff...
Incedently how long do overhauls like this take to bed in? ^^^
get the standard system working properly, best upgrade out there.
