Go for breathing mods first mate, like supersprint mani, decat and replace the IK for a airbox and ITG filter.

Get the puppy ramaped and see what it gets!

Then go for cams if you feel the need

Why do people say this "buy a diff car" bollocks when people arnt asking for that kind of advice. Hes asking what to do to his williams.

I thought i wanted a jap car. Ive now very much changed my mind and im going back to Renault.

well a sensible person doesn;t throw money at a jumpe dup granny shopping trolley when they can get a better car and have a lot more performance for less.

The renault tuning industry is a joke, they are outdone by every other manufacturer for availability of parts, cost of parts, PROVEN track record of parts and so on.

Renault used to be good at engines, the latest crop are shite. Gordini renault engine sin the 1960's at 1.8 litres on twin carbs made 200bhp all day long.

Now 2 litre efi equiped engines struggle to match that, even with TB's they are pretty much all done at 250bhp in sensible road tune.

Its preference mate. He asked for advice on how to tune his car, not wether he should sell it or not.

Chris H

fair enough.

first thing he should do is get it running stock power 90% of them I work on are way down on power

well since i have been driving i have owned 11 cars. 7 have been clios, from 1.2's to my newest, a williams 2. i looked at turbo's but fancy a tuning challenge with a n/a then i'll move to turbo stuff. cars are my passion and clios for me cant be beat. they look outstanding and do not dissapoint when driving. you'll all no this anyway and if we didnt think this no1 would be writing and chatting in this forum.

what everday cars on the road can give a williams a real run for its money? without spending a fortune?

ive p*ssed on rover 220 turbos, 200sx, rx-8, renault 5 turbo's and ive given a civic type r, bmw m5 and a tuned starlet a run for there money. they where gob smacked to say the least.

pretty impressive lunner, jus to double check but is that without cams?

similarly no one with half a brain buys R19's period.

tuning Clio's and having a quick sleeper is fun, unfortunately for you I think you have completely missed the point

yes nothing like trashing a 20,000 or 100,000 super car in something you knocked up at home

I was going to sell my hybrid to get a celica gt4 but after researching into the costs involved in running one of these properly I realised that the clio is really a hell of a lot of fun for not that much money to run and buy bits for etc. Telling someone to go and buy a different car when they ask for tuning advice is well out of order!

Power figures mean **** all in the real world out on the tarmac...some big power cars on paper just don't deliver the goods. Whilst others are rapid even though on paper they are'nt all that.

Rolling road figures are only good for bragging down the pub IMHO

285 on a stock crank? surprised they even run, probably not a true 285 profile though...

285s...holy mother of god!

What are they like?

Erm, lumpy, lol. Great fun in traffic

Tbh they're too wild, as theres not much power until 4.5k, pulls like a bastard past that tho, lol

Martins right tho, power doesnt really mean a lot below 80-90ish, I had a play with a BMW 650i last night and only lost a car length between 0-100, after that he pulled away like i wasnt moving and thats a 380bhp barge, lol.

a 300zx disapeared out my mirror in my old hybrid, 3litre v6 twin turbo JAP car that chris h is raving about
Go for simple mods, airbox and itg, chip/remap and a supersprint and a decat if you aint got one.

J o n

just get bodies, you piss on pretty much everything, and everything else you'll easily keep up with.

Martin

J o n
16-10-2006, 15:43
keep your car and just do it Martin. I'll send that vid over and put it up on here tonight and you'll deffo want bodies. The best thing is I pull away more as the speeds get higher, 4th gear is almost identical pull to 3rd, it's nuts... lol

stan
16-10-2006, 17:23
Thejesus why would 285deg profile be an issue on a std crank??

Martin, bodies are where its at mate! Just wait til my williams is on the road  :P

MAXIBOY
