tbh theres not alot of point modding the 1.2, it wont make it much better, but the usual exhaust system/induction system (breathing mods) and pos a chip, but i would save your money towards a bigger engine/car!

Stick a williams engine in n dont tell insurance

only jokin ud get buggered for that, but like rich sez theres not really much point on modding the 1.2, best off saving for something bigger

richy and dan! didnt you read the first post properly??? lol reason she wants to mod the 1.2 is because she cant get a bigger car due to insurance being to high for a bigger car!!!

you cant afford the insurance? But yet you can afford to spend £300 on chipping and a couple more £££ on IK and system.

So say an extra £500 would probably be the difference in 1.2 and vlaver insurance!

Dont bother modding a 1.2.
I did my old mk1 ph3 1.2 (diet engine) and with decat, scorpian cat back system, powerboost valve and a bmc panel filter.
I got a massive 64.1bhp which ment i got 4.1bhp gain, just as well i got all the bits cheap.

As you can see its very little gain, so not worth bothering with off the shelf items.
If you really want some power gains, then i would say headwork would be the best way.
There seems to be good gains from the poorly cast heads which the low cc engines have, so that could work out the most cost effective.

If your not keen on taking your engine apart, then 16v brake upgrade and put an arb onto the car would make it handle and stop alot better. Which would make you quicker overall.

just de-cat and exhaust on engine, then sort suspension and brakes(16v brakes are a good conv.), will go round corners faster then

If its power steering go for a manual conversion that will free uyp 5 bhp

Fit wider tyres will help too, stick some 15's on there running 195/45 or 50 profile tyres

valver alloys can be picked up cheap as chips

17?

Just get it in the weeds and chill untill your 19.

Then worry about getting places quicker 8)

o ye got to say..alloys aswell..there are 15...195 40

The 15" alloys will slow it down. 13" is standard size on a 1.2/1.4 i think.

14" RSi wheels. :)
16V Brakes.

Or, drive steady, get 1 yncb and buy a 1.4 or faster.

Insurance drops quite a bit with 1yncb

ph2 valver wheels, 16v brakes, uprated pads, 16v hubs and coilovers or shocks and springs or just normal 16v suspension with lowered springs....
16v/willy track?

Tie your 1.2 to the back of a williams. It'll have never gone so fast in its life!!

PMSL

Only joking, drop an RSi or valver lump in it.

An I can understand the insurance, my younger brother is only 18 an he's paid 2700 for a 1.2 fiesta. Insurance just seems to be going up and up for youger people.

damn right!! when i started driving in about 2004 my 1st inssurance (TPFT) was about £1200 and that was on a mind 90's 1.4, vauxhall astra.

the corsa C is a very good car, I had the use (ex gf) of the rapid 3 cyl 12V 1 litre, it was a fecking good car, woudl do 115 on the dash and would outrun mk2 1.2 puntos.

Done 18k in just under a year in it (glasgow to aberdeen nearly everyday plus me taking day trips) only problem was the nearside face vent was broken but was replaced under warrenty.

The fiat punto isn't that great a car, the mk1's were terrible the mk2's whilst more stable were still cack. Sumps still corroded through and the door seals would get cut through by the door in about 9 months on average. The 1.2 8v was hammered by not only the 1l corsa but also 1.2 4 speed novas. lol The clutches are also a weak spot, the gear selection on the mk2's was however far better compared to the mk1's. The lights were also an improvement but not great. The city button made the steerign silly light but it was left on all the time tbh.

The fiesta, the new latest shape one is a great car. The mk4 was good as well, the puma and ka which shared its floorpan came from good stock, the ka was to slow and cramped inside.

thats all I can be arsed with on Chris H's shopping trolley reviews tonight!

Also megane coupes, build quality? don't make me laugh son.

Lol my mate had the Corsa C 1 litre 3 cylinder, that thing was soooooooooo slow

Chris H
15-10-2006, 23:51
yeah its not gonna worry a valver is it but it'll keep up with comparable cars like 1.2 clios etc. COmfort levels and cheapness means its a good buy, strong re-sale values help as well.

The 3cyl also sounds just like the V6 veccy etc.

drove a corsa c for a wee while when my old man had it as a courtesy car. The one I had was the 1.2 twinport which was pretty nippy, probably about the same sort of pace as my 1.4 RT, but it had far too much roll in in for my liking and the handling didn't seem as good as the clio - though to be fair my clio has been lowered. I was quite surprised by it though tbh as I had thought it would be shite but it was a pretty nice drive.

ive drove the corsa c, although they are nippy i dont think they are nice to drive or comfortable, those seats are like sitting on a concrete slab..

I paid 980 on my own insurance when i was 17 for a 96 P reg 1.2

back to the original question,

i wouldnt bother spending anything on it to make it faster as ultimatley it will be a waste of money. By all means put an exhaust and ik on to make it sound faster, if thats your forte, otherwise just save your pennies for a faster car alltogether.
