I think my drivers side inner cv joint needs replacing. Is this an easy job to do and what tools and parts would i need?

Would it be easier to replace the driveshaft as i was going to do both sides eventually anyway?

Hey Adi, I have just done them on My Valver.

Very easy to do, I think the drivers side is the shaft that requires the role pin....... Pop to Renault and ask for one, They are only about a quid, You should get one when you buy the shaft but for £1 its best to have another I think.

You need to find a suitable punch to get the old pin out, 5mm IIRC. Also a large socket to undo the hub nut 30mm (again IIRC)

All I did was remove my wheel centre cap, Loosen the large hub nut while car is still on the ground.

Jack car up, Remove wheel, Think I just undid the two hub to suspention strutt bolts, Knock out the roll-pin and refit.

The near-side is abit different as it has no roll pin, on this side it has a rubber gattor(sp) that is held to the GB housing with three 13mm?? bolts.
The NS also require the GB oil to be drained/refilled.

Thanks pat,

Think i have the 30mm socket just may need the role pin. Will get down to renualt tomorrow and order the driveshafts. Are you going to be around a week tomorrow? as i'll attempt to fit them then.

Im just hoping its the cv joint and not something in the diff thats gone as thats not going to be as easy.

I want to fit a new subframe and anti role bar sometime as well, may order all the bits tomorrow depending on cost.

Thanks adi

Remember some GB oil if you are doing both shafts!
