Williams 2 New owner, new on here. Tech question?

First of all hello
Just picked my 2 up and its got a few little faults.

1. Tacho goes normal to about 2k then move slowly to 3k when the limiter cuts in. The car is pulling and rev it just apears to be the tacho. Any thoughts?

2. How much play should there be in the steering seam very loose, again thoughts?

Should not be more than plus/minus about 1 to 2 cm.

It's a common problem. The steering joint close to the pedals have gone loose. Most people here simply weld up that joint.

2. You need to either buy a new steering column from renault (around £140) or get yours welded.

reference the steering play, most people buy a 2nd hand one in gd cond or weld up the existing one, isn't hard to do. To change it takes 1-2 hrs max!
