i know this is the one of the very basic things when working on a car, and i expect to be flamed by at least one person, but where's a good CENTRAL jacking point for the front and the back.

basically id like to be able to jack up the whole front and/or rear from one point and wanted to know where is the best.

to do it safely you need a beam attachment for your jack.

you can't do it without damage without one.

there is a mount avaliable to lift the full front up - but the side....best one to suggest is jack the front one and lift the rear up with it and then work in stages (jacking front and rear) till you get the car to the hight you want.

where can i get a beam attachment from chris? will general motor stores sell them or is it something special that needs to be made up?

once you have one, is it just a case of using the beam on the subframe to lift the front? and can you use the beam for the rear?

this sort of thing

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=101773&ts=83232&id=40383

and yes you can use it on the rear.

only issue is you need to jack it up a bit to get it and the jack under the car

or can you recommend any other high lift trolley jacks?

at the end of the day id like a nice high lift from a trolley jack and round about 500mm is the highest i can find within my price range.

higher lift and its a fooking great jack, use it all the time, its heavy though. its also the jack that beam I stuck up is to be used with.

It lifts the cars high enough for me to put wheel ramps in under the wheels
