I have sourced a V6 engine, box, loom, subframe, wishbones and struts.
I am thinking of putting it into a mk1 16v. *EDIT* engine in the back *EDIT*

I would have to make a space frame to house the engine and turrets.

The only query I would have is suspension geometry? Does anyone know how I would go about getting a good set up on the rear wheels?

Cheers

Im hoping you mean rear mounted RWD?

Theres no point front mounting it imo.

The only way i would do something like this and make it "worthwile" would be twin turbo the bugger and rear mount it.

 ofcourse im gonna rear mount it! HAHA!

Just checking...!!

Well i cant give you any exact geometry, no. I would measure up a V6 rear and base it on that. Rose-joint the wishbones etc so its fully adjustable, and take it from there.

I would seriosuly consider twin turbo if i was you....

But isnt that really really expensive?

Im looking at doing this for under 3k

Depends how resourceful and capable YOU are.

It could be done reletively cheaply...but you may be pushing it on your budget, as youve got to build the rest of the car.

Im hoping most of the parts are going to be from scrap yards. I dont plan on buying many new parts.

Its ok. Im gonna be resourceful, not dangerous and trampy.

The engines out of a laguna.
This would mean the engine would be mounted as if it were in the front. Not like a clio v6 and it is only gonna be 190bhp.

I cant be bothered to try and find a v6 box and then pay stupid money for it. Im gonna go and measure the engine and the inside of the clio and see if its do-able.

Use an 21 turbo box

21 tyurbo box mounts the engien longitudally. In the laguna its transverse.

Best way to go/ get a laguna front subframe with rack etc etc

weld it in the back, this way youy have decent geometry and you can adjust the toe angle, you just need to lock the rack.

cheap to.

I thought the engine was longitudinal in a clio v6?

as an engineering project sounds fun. but will it be worth it in the power to weight ratio over a turbo 2 litre

its not

hes got a laguna lump, might as well get the box etc as well anyway as its easier

yup would be easier transverse with FWD gearbox

(and 2 turbo's :D )

it would suck though.

The rear end of a clio is just so weak you'd have to build a huge cage to mate it to the front pickup points.

good idea but why bother with a lardy v6, have you seen that mk1 polo on e-bay with a 20v in the boot......now theres an idea
