My clutch was replaced about 600 miles ago now...just had a new cable installed after the old one snapped.

The problem is that the clutch is barely disengaging at full pedal travel. The action's quite light...not sure if this is normal as I've only had the car for a month or so and barely used it for one reason or another.

Any thoughts?

Don't think so...what are the symptoms of the plastic ball that the clutch arm sits in breaking? Had a quick chat a specialist last week and I know that's a possible problem :(

Did you reset the ratchet mechanism on the top of the pedal?

Yeah that's all set up properly. It's not cable related to be honest, probably shouldn't have mentioned that

why not??

If the cable isn't routed properly etc then it could cause it to break...like one has already, and if it hasn't got enough movement then the clutch won't opperate properly

I'd go back to the place that fitted the clutch, well no i'd have done it myself and made sure it was done properly :P

Never heard of the bearing on the clutch release arm going

The cable wasn't replaced when the clutch was, and I had the cable replaced by a specialist as I don't have the facilities where I live now to work on the car myself....very confused :?

I'm gonna take it in to the clutch place next weekend but if anyone's got any pointers now I'd appreciate it

the nylon bush for th erelease fork pivot, I have never seen one wear or crack, the nylon wears through the fork, although only seen that one on these cars and it had over 200k on the original box.

where does the clutch pedal sit? in line with the brake? I often find peopel have removed the bush or filed it down on the pedal box.

It sits fine, just higher than the brake IIRC.

The biting point is very low (i.e. almost fully depressed) in the clutch's action. The cable is routed properly and the ratched is well adjusted. It's not a major problem but it's defo not right

New clutch cable can stretch a bit after some initial use and can move the bite point very close to the floor. You probably need to re-fit the cable again with a spacer on the cable to take up the slack.

are the ratchet teeth damaged at all? does its ever click when you press the pedal?
