Good old haynes says 'just remove the bolts' but I know thats rubbish so any tips for doing this? Need to change the starter motor :(

Think you can remove the starter without removing the manifold or downpipe will just clear.

i did the starter in about 2 hours (total novice)
knelt on engine and got hand in from top(passenger side)
its fiddley but not hard

mine is a williams which means extra brackets/bolts to remove
some sort of cover under the manifold then bolts out of bracket at back of engine
i left the bracket attached to starter
removed it in one piece
replaced starter then fed it back in
like i say its fiddley but very do able

super easy way is pull the offside driveshaft, will be done in less than 5 mins after the shafst out.

you can do it with the shaft etc in.

it really depends if all the brackets are there or not.

no need to remove anything exhaust related though.

just pull it off the output sshaft and let it drop down a bit, tsking it right out means theres loads of room though.

Cheers for the tip there, although I didn't take it out I wouldn't have thought of going in through the o/s wheel arch lol didn't take very long after that and managed to whip it backtogether in about 30mins.
