Yes Nyk is wrong, willy and 19 wishbones are the same due to the wider track, valvers are shorter.

I foresee a problem with this thread. It could become "an oh yes it is, oh no it isn't" pantomime. Is someone with access to Renault part numbers (dialogies or whatever they are called) going to moderate all posts?

I thought that but Northy said:

So once they have been verified they will get moved to the masterlist.

16v and williams rear beam is the same, no matter what anyone says, part numbers match

Steering rack isn't the same, but 16v one fits and vice versa

Isn't this thread a bit of a waste of time considering that Willies and 16V's are exactly the same car, minus a few parts here and there. C'mon Willy owners, admit it, Willys are just stroked 16Vs with a tad wider front track! After all the argueing has been sorted out you're just gonna end off with a dead thread consisting of a very short list.

How about expanding it to all the Clio range? For example: Clio 16v, RSI, Williams, R5 GT Turbo, GTX, and Peugeot 205 GTI , all share front callipers and pads.

does this wider track on the willy mean ...
williams and 16v have different drive shafts
the williams one being a tad longer or
have i just cocked it up good an proper ??

Laine_16v

Yes williams driveshafts are longer.

They are the same as 19 16v driveshafts.

Lunner

widetrack requires:

willy/R1916v wishbones
Willy driveshafts, can use one R19 one but can't remember which
Willy ARB, and obvously bushes to match

Is there an echo in here

also the other problem is renault themselves. as with the oil pump. 16v and williams had different oil pumps but now there is only one part number and only one pump availaible. lots of other parts are now discontinued or repacked or labeled so they seem the same.

what about the steering rack ???
is that same in all clios inc 1.4 etc ?

if so can a p/s rack be swapped with a manual one ?

Chris H

theres thousands of parts that are the same.

the front pads,

williams are the same as the 16v, also the same as the rtsi's, and the 1.4's with girling pads, which were also used on some jag xj40 rear axles.

Rear pads are the same on the williams, rsi, 16V, megane, 19, 309, 205, 206 and so on.

rack is the same on the 1.2/1.4's as the 16V, the willaism has longer track rods.

and yes its a thread would go on forever.

172 springs are the same as Willy springs.

You can use 172 Cup springs instead for a small drop (c. 5mm) (and increased stiffness??)

i didn't know that. I want a 30-35mm drop on the front (i have gmax shocks) will using the 172 springs allow a 30mm drop on the front compared to standard 16v springs?

Lunner
26-12-2006, 14:30
Why don't you just buy normal lowering springs, or get some springs made up to fit 30mm lower at a nice high poundage

Probably a very stupid question but im guessing that the williams rocker cover gasket is the same as a valver one?

MatBrown

Correct.
The 19 16v isn't quite the same but can also be used.

Ive got a willams in my garage at the moment, number 151 on an L plate, i also have a 205 1.9 gti, 106 gti, 306 gti6, 309 gti and a 206 gti (too many cars i know) the rear calipers are the same on them all, the caliper yokes and pads are different on the williams, the pug calipers dont have the retaining screws for the outer pad.
