very easy mate the cambelt has 3 white lines and on the 3 main pullys, they have marks on just line the lines on the belt u with the marks on the pullies and your away

just turn the crank a few times to check that they line up right again and if so - kool - if not........................... well i dunno as mine was ok

^^TDC, line the cam pulley marks up with the cam cover indents with pistons half way up bores to avoid collision then bring the bottom pulley round till mark corresponds with mark on casing, itl be reet then!

cam belt is piss.. bit that throws ppl is that the belt wont physically line up.. you need to apply slight pressure to the pulley to get it home.
once the engine goesin lose those chav lights lol

the 2 top marks...(cams) theres a little like dot imprint on the pulley. and a line in the cam cover these need to line up.

the bottom one again is a little dot pressed into the pulley.

well tomorrow i'm going to town on her, gonna fit the box back on, fit the inlet manifold and also pop the drive shafts and ball joints...........

hopefully then it will be time to get the engine in the car and ready to plumb back together!!!!! can't wait the time is nearly here, as soon as the engine is in it's being booked in for a RR session, so when i get cams (and possible investment in throttle boddies and mapped) i can see what the after result will be :D can't wait

nice one mate.

Where did you buy that samco elbow? Also how much was the gasket set is it a good quality set, ie payen or just normal? Curious as I need some decent bits but don't know where to buy!

lumoxs

samco elbow was £20 from rally design

and the whole gasket set was from K-Tec - that was £70.50 delivered

Disagree, always foudn teh safest bet is to line it up so that all the pistons are mid way down the bores, can't hit **** all then, esp if you ahve had it apart and need to rotate the cam pullies to line it up

tut tut not a word of thanks to me!! :( lol
the reason it aint getting gear is the streched clutch cable which i did recommend you changed before you put the motor back in the bay lol
looks like your gonna have grazed knuckles changing that one tomorrow!!!
ill pop down after work tommorow to have a listen but i wouldnt worry too much just yet, sounded ok considering it had been laid up for some time, just tappety tap tappets and the noise of a dry power steering pump, get some fluid tommorow!!
