What mods do the above williams have?

Good figures there.

northy +27BHP for manifold, decat, and zorst? good result don't think its going to be near that though.

What were the at the wheels figures?

There is a difference in figures but mine, Monkeys and Northys all run the same when rolling on the m/way....nothing in it.

cool, need to get mine RR'd soon.

Impressed with manifold power gains. Noticed how resistricing it looks but dnt expect the gain to be so much on a N/A car. May have to call upon the services of Supersprint.

Yeah think the geezer working out fot transmission losses was crazy

Mine first time that day was 121 ATW then I complained as Northy had excessive figures, so the next time I had 131 ATW, ****in crazy shit I tell thee. Think Northy had 134 ATW what I dont' undertsand as his Flyheel figure was 10bhp up on mine

Me thinks the Flywheels figure are horse shit but the Wheel figure sound right to me.

Stranhe thing is we both had exactly the same torque @ 132

To be honest Gaz's Clio was the one that surprised me, very fookin quick 8)

nice figures...at the fly sounds a bit excessive, however ATW sounds a lot better, Monkeys and Northy's are pretty similar so I imagine the time of the day you had it done could have made the difference as well as the fanimold!

or he bought the rolling road from LAD

northy
24-04-2005, 18:14
Was a good day...still impressed with chris's 190 at the wheels.

Mine made 134.5bhp at the wheels (Prowler manifold, decat and custom cat back exhaust)...and before with only a manifold on made 127bhp at the wheels.

So 7bhp gain by fitting a decat and cat back exhaust ! Certainly felt like it when i went from standard to free flow custom.

But on the motorway there isnt much between flamingmonkeys, gaztwo's & mine.

Two different readings on the same rollers, with the same operator on the same day?

I think this proves that as a quantitative measure of horse power, most rolling roads are useless.

hmm need to get my valver on the rr see if its down on power

northy
24-04-2005, 21:19
Since fitting the exhaust the car is flying....best thing ive done.

Take a look at the before and after torque measurements...soo ooo much better now.

Im buzzing....well pleased with it.

I've got to say that, RR figures have never appealed the only thing I am interested in is the difference in performance on the road!, the reason I say this as a mate of mine was constantly gettting diffo results from the same company, therefore seemed a pointless exercise, and waste of money ie petrol and RR costs!

VIPERONE
24-04-2005, 23:50
the most accurate rollers are the ones where you remove the wheels and bolt the machine to the hubs.. then there are no traction issues

NickFr
25-04-2005, 07:59
However, can see why you are well pleased Northy

FlamingMonkey

Don't think I'll bother with the RR again unitl I done something different.

Done 3 RR Days nows and nothings changed on my car but have varying figures

1st one 137 ATW
2nd one 131 ATW
3rd one 121 ATW
Then miraculously when I complained it got 131 ATW.

I was talking to the bloke who was operating the rollers and I told him what it had made previous, who told me there is no way it would of made 137 ATW.

What happened to you on the way home Northy I had fun with a 2ltr Nova on the M65, ****er almost made me want to sell my car, couldn't even beat a fookin nova

To be honested given all the figures I have to agree that there not very accurate, on route to the R/R on the m/way I had a few doo's with Gaz and Monkey....mine was stripped...no headlining, trims, rear seats with me and our lass in....Monkey had Jesus in and Gaz on his own (both with full interior) and we were all the same absoulutly nothing in it....if anything Gaz was pulling slightly on me with only a decat and S/S exhaust.

Monkeys figure seems realistic with the mods he has (decat and S/S exhaust) but mine seem a little high to be honested as we are all equal on the road.

TBH, RR are only really good for checking the health of an engine and identifying any flatspots etc. Good for a general stab at a power figure but not the gospel.

I dont see why people contiually through money at rolling roads to be handed a piece of paper that migh as well be a lump of dog shit for the use it is.

If we can conclude anuthing from Flaming Monkeys rolling road experiences it is that hes wasted his money and is no wiser as to the power of his car.

FlamingMonkey
25-04-2005, 12:03
Might have wasted money, but I met some good people, had a good laugh and brought something mildly interesting to this discussion forum...you done any of that lately fella? :D

KingStromba
25-04-2005, 12:27
I knew youd take offence at that even though none was implied.

I personally beleive rolling roads are a waste of money unless used for diagnostic s / engine mapping or are the variety that fit on the hubs.

The Williams is 150 BHP standard as dynoed by Renault. Add a little power for the engine loosening up over time, and id put the figure of your car at 155 to 162 BHP atf.

In my opinion no rolling road will get a more accurate figure than my estimation. And i dont charge.

Peace.

I don't take any of this Forum banter personally or serious dude that's why I put the smiley.

You wrote that to get a rise out of me and I obliged. I wrote what I wrote to get a rise out of you, its all fun, if we came over all serious and polite we would turn into CS...lol

No offence taken, hehe

I wasnt having a go at you. When i said 'you' had wasted your money, i was implying everyone, but using you as an example. But at the end of the day, you earn it and can spend it on what you like.

Figures at the fly seem a bit optimistic to me.... My 172 (I know, Iknow) made 147 atw, and I was given a flywheel figure of 173bhp... :?:  which is transmission losses of 15% I think.... which seems low...
I'm with King on this one........ RR's are about as useful and accurate as Tony Blairs 'How to find WMD' handbook.

KingStromba
25-04-2005, 15:41
You agree with me?

Well thats a first. :D

oi......why is my no. plate on the r/r printout from re??

and btw stromba. the last r/r day was at minisport.....not re performance as per usual

i think re are the better option imo as the rollers there seem to be a little more accurate....and yes i have used minisport/powerzone before

If anyone is interested i am planning to make some rollers out of toilet paper rolls and an old computer i found in a skip.

I guarantee that my rollers with be within 50 BHP of your actual value. :D

And only 50 quid a time.

northy

yours was the higest run of the day jon...so thats why your plates on.

Its all fun, always nice to see a improvement when you've changed something on your car.

stan

Those figures arent accurate. for a start there is way too much variation between runs. secondly, you say they had the same torque figure. was this at the same engine speed? if so the power would also have to be the same to give the same torque!
