Thanks.

lol, this is actually supposed to be left paul.

During this rebuild stage - can i ask that all mods consult me before changing any settings or accounts please. This should of been the case before the site went down

I made it that only moderators could edit & delete posts.

I was tired of reading posts that had been edited by users when arguments started. It makes the job as admin alot harder. I discovered that a post written weeks ago could be edited.....and i didnt agree.

You can PREVIEW your posts before you post if you wish to edit them Aj

If you need any posts editing - can you please pm a mod.

Edit feature - locked to mods.

get rid of the edit feature, it's funnier to watch people struggle with idiotic posts they previously made

northy

thats what i think.

seroiusly though - it is something that only happens on here...all the other sites have the edit feature removed.

i will see how it goes then reintroduce it when u guys have forgotten about it

cliosport carnt edit after 5mins of a post

J o n

nah, i seriously think it should be removed, I dont like the fact people can just edit their old posts at will. imo if it needs changing, then as has been suggested PM a mod to edit it for you... well, providing they agree.

I'm saying this because I could call someone such and such a name and they could take offense and by the time it's checked I could have edited it... its a continuity issue more than anything, hence above only being an example... because in reality I'd just abuse you and any editing would only be more insults

Not a bad idea. 5 to 10 mins is all I need to edit my typos.

spell check feature would be good if it was built into the forum shell.

Purple, if you use Internet Exploder, then try this mate. It's a useful spellchecker plug in... if you use Mozilla like me then I've no idea if it works, but I'll have a look for you.

Spellchecks would help, but I'd still prefer being able to edit my own posts to add/remove words that I forgot to put in the first time round. Or, sometimes, to get the tone of the message just right.

i think editing is needed cause a lot of the time i write stuff then need to change it cause it sounds wrong or i've written the wrong thing!!

but i understand where mods are coming from when people are arguing or stepping out of line!

what would be better is if we could edit posts and mods could read all versions of that post!! :D

clio b, if a 5-10 minute period could be implemented that would hopefully give anyone enough time... but reading it back before posting is usually the best way, saves you the time and effort waiting to refresh and go back in to then realise you made a mistake... not sure if this can be done, Northy and Summeh are the best people to speak to so best waiting and seeing what they come back with.

You get a post and preview when creating a post lol....use the PREVIEW !

Zollo
28-09-2006, 15:27
Editing could actually stop threads getting out of control too though. People write something in the heat of the moment; if they can edit when they've realised it was OTT, or just has the wrong tone to it, then no one gets upset :)

northy
28-09-2006, 15:31
thats my point though. if they can edit it they unless the mods see it first time around it can change on the edit.

removing the edit will hopefully work in the moderators favour ????

Zollo
28-09-2006, 15:37
Aye, I guess so. Perhaps no editing after 5 minutes, like has been mentioned, then 8)

Remove it.

Certain people post something, then you reply to it and then they change their post to make it sound like you have replied to something different. And like Jesus said, you can put anything up and then edit it, shouldnt be allowed.

I vote to get rid.
