Is it possible?
Was sat on that loo again and just thought if it were possible to do a 4WD conversion on one of these? Not heard anywhere that its been done before and was curious.
Would imagine the 0-60 would be awesome in such a lightweight car?

The Nissan Pulsar 4WD Turbo was pretty nippy as a small car!

The Pulsars have the power to back it up though.

IMO 150bhp isnt enough power to justify running 4WD, just buy some good tyres 8)

Ok, what if you got TB's and were running at 200-230BHP?

I think the pulsars were about 230 werent they?

u'd want 400bhp up front to make it worth it imo....

ive thought about it...its one of "the plans"...

Haha, that is mad matey!! Weird!!

400BHP, sheeesh,,,back to the drawing board then lol.
Matt should do it to his ClioTT.

A few of the peeps on here are running 0-60 times at 5secs to 5.5 secs.

How do u improve this? I know front wheel drive is so hard cos you just spin n spin.
If you had 230 horses and moved it to the back, to RWD, would that improve ya chances of reachin under 5 secs for 0-60?

Seems you need ALOT more power to make 4WD worth it and we all know how the evo's perform 0-60 as 4WD cars.

Ive looked into it. it would be very easy for me to do using a TT box and rear diff, but even with 270 its not worth it. the extra weight would kill it i think.

But... My engine in the back with an Audi A4 transaxle!!!!! now your talkin...

0-60, 4wd etc is pointless imo, 30-100 is where its at!

tyres, clutch, shafts etc.all will have a slight say in the times......changin a fwd car from road to slicks could be worth a fair chunk...

personally think best way to 4wd a clio wud be to twin engine it. altho as flan says, he and matt have a massive advantage by having a eng set up that will stand a 4wd conversion pretty easily, just the modifying of the shell needed.

pointless unless your running big power and want good 0-60 times but not a lot else.

i know it helps on handling, but my old scooby felt like it was towing a caravan around all day.

on the rollers, it lost 80bhp from flywheel to wheels, FWD would loose less than half that.

take a look at the Boost Beast, the twin engine Nova. That thing was doing 0-60 in 2.65 seconds! Was mental saw it at a nova meet up mk a few years back, only prob is the bloke has to drive it with the windows open to let the heat out

Still would'nt mind it though

person called scoff on rtoc did a rear engine conversion on his r5gtt a few years ago. had around 200bhp and did 0-60 in 3.9 seconds 8) problem was when you came to a corner

imo 4wd isnt worth the effort with higher transmission losses, more weight and since when does anyone (bar chavs at the lights) actualy use 0-60 apart from on the drag strip where a fwd car with big slicks can put in as good a 60 foot time as most 4wd cars.

dont think theres much point unless your hill climbing etc. matts done a 3.8 to 60 this year already proving that you can put the power down though front wheel drive and in real world situations theres not that many standing starts and its all about putting the power down when your already moving. the handling is more affected by the extra weight possibly making its a lot less nimble and offsetting the extra power. go light weight with proper suspension and setting up.
