I just picked up new wing mirror glass from Renault and the glass has a black surround like most modern cars, but my original didnt (just glass). It has a small black plastic rim that protects the edge of the glass about 1mm thick.

Is the Williams glass different or have Renault just altered the manufacturing process?

Shall i keep it or take it back? Not sure youll notice once its on the car but dont want to fit non williams glass either.

I'd of thought they'd just updated the manufacturing process. Can you not remove the plastic lip stromba? Or trim it back?

Yeah i could do. Was thinking of painting it silver so you cant see it.

Could do. Only thing is when it gets a few frosts on it the paint might start to lift and then it'll look terrible. Trim it back.

I've got to get a mirror glass (heated) Glass is fine but heated part has broke down, only does a little patch.

My two new ones don't. I'll double check for you thoughi if you want.

Strangley the guy at the bodyshop says the mounting/plastic bit is larger for the n/s mirror though. :?
