I need to buy some chain to tug out a little bit of damage on the valver but don't want to spend too much on the chain itself as I don't have money to be throwing about at the moment (poor student). Basically, where is the best place to buy chain by the metre?

I was thinking it would probably be a marine supply store or something like that. Also, what sort of rating of chain will I need to get and any idea on how much it would cost per metre? The damage I need to tug out is just that the crossmember has been pushed back a couple of cm's and it means the bonnet and a few bit don't quite line up properly.

Thanks.

I've seen chain on reels in B&Q that you can buy by the metre, but don't know whether that is up to the job?

I've seen them before, but I reckon it's a lot more expensive that a specialised place would be. It was about £10/metre iirc and it wasn't all that strong.

Placve i work at sell chain for about £5/mtr off the roll, B&Q will have it and it won't be that much, or try Jewson's or somewhere, they reel shoudl ahve a lable on witgh teh max rating, depends what sorta damage, i tried pulled my front cross member out with 2 250kg rated rachet straps and all i suceeded in doign was dragging the car down the road
